wild-caught wood

Hey guys,

So a friend of mine is in the process of building a large enclosure for his Chinese Water Dragon. He chopped off large branches off a tree nearby his house. He was wondering if it is safe to use branches from a wild tree (honey locust).

-he plans to peel off bark, clean in bleach/water solution/dry out in sun, etc.

Any one have useful advice you can give me?

Thanks in advance!

You need to sterilize it. Anything i bring in from outside i first let soak in boiling hot water in a large storage bin. It kills any bugs that are buried in the wood/bark.

Lol! I'm off to catch some wood. That's funny to me :D maybe would design a wood trap to make life a bit easier!

hey dont laugh guys i just went and caught some its was running all over the darn place. it turned my new nikes into slippers :p

Ok I must need more sleep ;) Bad dirty gutter mind, bad!!!

You're not the only one! Who's chasing what wood? :p

But yeah, sterilise it first just to be safe (I normally just boil boiling water over it a few times as that will get rid of pretty much all the nasty stuff)

Unless of course you're talking about something else at which point boiling water is a definite no no!!!
