I am doing a sixty gallon densely planted bearded pygmy tank will this light set up be ok for pygmy's?

That fixture will work for grow lights... but there aren't any trust worthy brands of UVB lamps made in the T5 format. If you can find a fixture like that, with T8 lamps, you'd be headed in the right direction.

If you are looking at HO T5 Fixtures try to look for one with single reflectors for each bulb. It will use the bulbs a lot better and you can use each bulb to its full potential. If you can look around some of the Reef Forums for Saltwater tanks there are always good trusted brands of HO T5 fixtures on sale.

its all preference.
i tend to always think (natural habitat) chameleons of course are never like true chameleons that recieve the 5% uvb we offer them, a uvb source that pygmies can aquire is 2%, which in a sence is uva. and 2.0 uvbs are also used as marketing to sell an expensive lightbulb for (plant growth uses) and reptiles who dont need a high spectrum of light. so if 2.0 uvb bulbs helps grow plants in the vivarium, than doesnt a 6500K do the same as well?

jmo, and this is what i have learned and have been using. i give my pygmy a 12'' 6500K, and it flourishes my plants, and she is always doing great. the light is not too bright for her eyes, and she is in wonderful condition. i also use 6500K CFLs in exo-terra single canopies for my crested geckos. i do believe that crested geckos do not need a 5% source of uvb either, so again, the 6500k cfls are there for display light and plant growth

I have a 5.0 over my leopard... it sits on top of the 10gal tank, making it quite some distance, and not a lot of UVB. I have found my gecko sitting up on her hide in the light a few times....

I think it is best to provide light that is close to what these animals would find in nature. Using an old UVB lamp above a night dwelling animal can't hurt. IMHO.

i agree, i only know that not all have older lamps available. if a tropical reptile that is dynural needs a uvb source (which they all do) i will provide a fresh 5.0 or 10.0 if needed. if i have a tropical or subtropical reptile that is nocturnal, or an amphibian/reptile who lives in water or leaf litter (pygmy), i would use an older 5.0 if i had one. but this they dont realy use uvb as a source but rather uva, i feel and believe and see that they will thrive without these lights aswell. so with that being said, if you dont have an older 5.0 and you're smart enough not to buy a 25$+ 2.0, i find that 6500K are the best thing to allow your vivarium tank and its plants to survive.

lol it realy does annoy me how schemed out hobby equiptment is sometimes.. hey did you know exo-terra came out with their version of a mist pump and spray bottle? lol 5-15$ for them.. i bought a heavy duty spray bottle for 3$ that is 4 times the size of their hand sprayer, and a 1g spray pump for 12$ that is again, 4 times the size of the spray pump. makes me mad

I have a UV meter. The 6500k light from the Big Box Stores put out zero UV. The 2.0 does put out UV, but as you would suspect is less than half of the output of the 5.0.
