Finally got around to getting some live plants in the cage, he is a Blue Bar Panther! He will be my first daughters first reptile once she gets here in may! If anyone has any input on what else i would need in there or if i should remove something please let me know. Kind of new to chams but been around reptiles for years! I have reptisun 5.0 uvb, halogen basking lamp due to the distance from his lamp to his basking location, drip system (DIY) i feel as if i should have another dripper but im not sure?

1.Those plants look familiar to me... I think I almost got one but did not see them on the safe plant list... That alone does not make them not ok... but I would deffinatelly verify all of your plants before introducing the cham.

2.Looks like a large cage, how long is your UVB bulb? I think you are suppose to have a minimum of a 2 footer...

3. Don't forget the 65,000K bulb.

4. You do need some kind of a dripper. Chams drink fresh running water.

5. A misting system will keep humidity up and provide drinking water.

6. Aquazamp and Mistking are site sponsors, they both have reputible products.

Wait, just saw that you have a dripper system, that alone will not be sufficient moisture for a panther. You'll want to keep the humidity up around 60%

I am pretty new at this too.... just regergitating info from other long time members...

I would also recomend more branches or vines so that he can easily go anywhere he wants... they like lots of choices.

Cage looks awesome :)

I would try to get some more horizontal pathways for him to walk on in the middle of the cage.

Wow, I just seen him in the picture and he looks stunning! Could you post a close up of him :D

I think the mister is going to be the next thing i buy, i just insalled another dripper but the humidity even with the live plants does not stay high enough, the plant is one recomended to me buy the breeder, and i also found it on the safe plant list. Its a Croton, home depot had it on sale for 7.88 so i had to grab one!

Brandon ill try to snap a close up on him real quick for you!

If you're referring to the broad leafed plants at the bottom, those are Croton. They're on the safe plant list, and they have minor toxicity and possible dermatitis. If it were me, I would leave it in there and only remove if he began eating some of it or if he began to show signs of irritation.

Thanks for the advice, ill make sure he doesnt start eating it, and if he does ill take it out right away!

He's purty lol. Does he normally keep that orangish yellowish background? And thanks for posting a picture of him...he really is stunning :)

Yeah, I wouldn't worry too much about him eating it because he's a panther and they generally don't eat as much vegetation, whereas if he were a Veiled I would be a little more wary. The main thing that would concern me is the possibility of it having dermatitis, which I think causes irritation to the skin. But if he's been in there around the plant for a while, and has come in contact with it quite a bit, then I think you don't have much to worry about :)

Nice... if it's safe, I'm getting one!

He doesnt really keep much of any color haha everytime i see him hes either blue, orange, or in the process of changing colors. His most "common" color is the orangish green i would say.

I just googled "plant dermatitis".... it appears as though dermatitis is not something that the plants carry, but rather a bio-chemical reaction that can occure when an animal touches a kind of plant.... Much like a human touching poison oak...... This means that the plant can not actually "carry" dermatitis...... Someone feal free to correct me if I am wrong.
