Hi - My 22 month old veiled isn't eating - went from 12 crickets a day to zero - not even interested in the juicy horned worms I just got. I have ordered blue bottle flies to hopefully peek his interest. Here is my set up:
* Your Chameleon - Veiled, Male, about 22 weeks old
* Handling - none
* Feeding - What are you feeding your cham? crickets What amount? was eating 12 a day - now none What is the schedule? Toss them in before I leave in morning
How are you gut-loading your feeders? cricket crack and pieces of apple, carrots and chunks of veggies or fruit
* Supplements - What brand and type of calcium and vitamin products are you dusting your feeders with and what is the schedule? Every day Repti calcium - wednesdays, every other week Rep-Cal Herbtivite multi vit., Repti calcium w/D3
* Watering - What kind of watering technique do you use? Mist King How often and how long to you mist? Every 2 hours for 4 minutes between 7:30am - 5:30 pm -Have changed to every hour since he looks a little dry Do you see your chameleon drinking? No - he seems to avoid it and once shuts off sits there with mouth open - thinking water may be chilly
* Fecal Description - Briefly note colors and consistency from recent droppings. They look perfect, but can't always find them. Has this chameleon ever been tested for parasites? No
* History - Any previous information about your cham that might be useful to others when trying to help you. N/A
Cage Info:
* Cage Type - Describe your cage (Glass, Screen, Combo?) What are the dimensions? Reptibreeze 18x18x36
* Lighting - What brand, model, and types of lighting are you using? What is your daily lighting schedule? 12 on/of - Deep dome with a 60w grow light for basking -Reptisun T8 5.0 tube placed diagonally on top - Sinc eweather cooler have switched to a 75 and 100 wat in the dome
* Temperature - What temp range have you created (cage floor to basking spot)? 90-67 Lowest overnight temp? 63 How do you measure these temps? humidity temperature gauge near top and thermometer resting in plant pot near bottom
* Humidity - What are your humidity levels? 40 -50% How are you creating and maintaining these levels? misting and live plants but have added some plastic to sides to kep warmer air in and hopfully raise humidity or keep it in What do you use to measure humidity? Zoo Med duel thermometer humidity gauge
* Plants - Are you using live plants? If so, what kind? One Ficus Benjamin and 1 pothos
* Placement - Where is your cage located? Family Room - cage is covered at night with sheet Is it near any fans, air vents, or high traffic areas? about 2 feet from floor vent At what height is the top of the cage relative to your room floor? 6 feet
* Location - Where are you geographically located? Eastern CT
We have electric heat with 1 zone so I'm worried about it being too chilly - have added extra heat lamps - I am thinking of adding a aquarium thermometer to the water reservoir but worried about algae
The not eating really worries me - he also roams a lot - I lost my first one and this guy seems to be on the same pattern I'll post a few pictures
Thanks
