Achilles is by no means a fussy eater, in three days he's
Eaten 100 medium size crickets. He's just under 6 months old, we dusted the cricket's and threw them in his
Flexarium he's usually good at limiting his intake per week. Is this normal or ok that he's doing this or will we have to cut down and put a numbered amount per day???

100...

Young to juvenile chameleons will consume between 10 to 20 mediums a day, yours is obvioisly happy to eat more, you could cap the amount he is eating yourself by reducing the amount you feed him..

Whilst I am setting up colonies to breed staple diet for my veiled it is costing me about $6 per day to feed him as he is eating between 20-25 locusts per day, though I switch with Crickets..

So 100 in three days is probably ok, whilst he is growing, over feeding is not a huge issue..

If he has not regulated his own desire for food when he reaches full grown you will need to regulate the amount you feed him if you don't want an unhealthy branch breaker... :)

Until there about a year or year and a half old you can let him eat as much as they want. One thing you could try is also increasing the size of the crickets. You might get more bang for your buck.

He's probably going through a pretty big growth spurt right now. You'll notice in another few months to six months him slowing down a bit. When he gets to that year year and a half Mark there is nothing wrong with feeding him every other day also.

Lol we tried full size crickets last time they're pretty loud, and it's hard to sleep the night with them. But he wrecks those up too! I do notice his growth week by week, I'm at work and school weekdays disorder my girlfriend takes care of him. Every week he looks bigger and bigger so like I guess you said he's hit a growth spurt.

My husband cannot stand the noise of large make crickets either. To the point that he'll track them down and remove the wings.
My guy seems to have an endless appetite as well, but adding silkworms and roaches into the menu seems to satisfy him much faster.

My little male panther is 5.5 months old and he is eating me out of house and home....10-12 phoenix worms/day plus 15 medium sized crickets plus the occasional hornworm/silkworm/butterworm. I swear, I have no idea where it goes!!!! :p

Really envy you guys, my panther doesn't eat that much, probably 2-3 super worms a day only. He is 6-8 months old now and his poop looks ok. Pooping everyday. :(

SpEr what are you enclosure temps like? I would imagine more than that being eaten each day. You should also mix up your feeders. Supers are the best of main staples for them to only eat. Do you have access to crickets or dubia / discoids?

Hi Melble,

I would say our local temperature ranges from 81 - 87 degrees F. and humidity of 85-92%.

Yes i do put crickets into my screen as well. He didn't really like crickets compared to superworms. The only time i actually sees him eating consecutively is 2 crickets. On normal days, i will feed him with 1 super worm and the 2nd that i place to him he will just move away

Adding to that, there was once where i came home really late or early at around 7am and i saw it hunting for food. On usual days i wake up at around noon and food doesn't really appeal to him
