hey guys its late at night and being out of town can make you worry about the care of your babies. this is my first clutch, and i dont want anything but to know that they are all in good hands rite now(they better be or i am holding my sister responsible lol). anyways now that i think about it, how do YOU take care of your "kids" (chams) when you have to go out of town?

It is always scary to go away for a while... but I try to set up most of my cages where everything is on timers... That way your chams can get the proper lighting and misting while you are gone. Water and light are the most important - they (healthy adults) can make it a while with out food.

With that said, I also usually have a friend go and check to make sure all of the systems are working - they don't necessarily have to know anything about chams, they just have to be able to make sure lights and misters are working! If I am gone for more than a weekend I have little labeled deli cups with crickets and piece of potato. Whenever the "caretaker" comes over they can just pop the deli cup top and stick it in the appropriate cham cage - without having to capture crickets and see how many crickets each different cham needs.

All in all, I try to make everything as simple as possible for whoever is looking in on the animals and never leave the chams for more than a day or two without someone stopping in to check on them.

Thats a great idea about the deli cups. Usually, if I have to leave, I just have a friend mist them for the days I'm gone (I don't have a mistking or anything) and I'm usually not gone long enough for them to have to feed him.
