Yay finally 287 days later first baby hatching :)

This is so exciting it was just my birthday on April.7th, and i just got home from work to notice a little head popped out of the egg this is my very first chameleon ever to hatch for me. So h@ppy right now after over 9months incubation the long wait has finally paid off. These are panther babies: nosebe x Ambanja cannot wait for this little guy to be climbing around & for the others to start hatching wish me luck. I will post pics of the parents as well

Congrats!! That first clutch is just so amazing. My first clutch was veileds, and each time a new one came out I was all caught up in watching it join the world. The parents both look good can't wait to see the babies grow.

thats a long incubation period! what temps did you keep them at? Congrats on the first clutch, its a great feeling and experience to be able to grow out your very own panthers and watch them develop.

Thanks for all the kind words they were incubated at 70f. Luckily I have some fruitflys awaiting.How long does it usually take them to fully get out of there egg? I think I read somewhere up to 3 days?? And Iam guessing the other eggs should start hatching relitavely soon?? Iam just so anxious to see the little ones in there new home.

I found that 72-75 degrees is the best temp. Is speeds up incubation a little bit but not too much. mine hatched at 7 months. It depends from egg to egg. Some will just pop right out and some will take time. try to check on it twice a day. I use to check in the morning and then after work like 9 hours later. It doesnt harm them to sit there for a while. they wont eat for the first few days but they do drink alot. 3 days is a long time but that's not the usual. Also all the eggs wont hatch the same day or even the same week. Some may never hatch out and just mold over. If you want to post a couple pics of the enclosure u set up i could give you some pointers.

Here is a picture of my setup an exo terra glass. I have two other cages that need to be setup as well open to any suggestions. Also another egg has cracked open this morning within a couple days all goes well should have some little ones running around ;-)

I know some people don't because they think it will dehydrate the babies. I keep mine in a 10 gallon with heavy foliage. The more leaves and vines the better. Ive read that people say too much foliage is bad because the food hides. In reality i found that the more leaves the more the fruit flies i feed stay in the leaves and not on the walls. Also the pinhead crickets i feed are attracted to the heat and come out to bask in the light and get eaten remember you will have a lot of babies walking all over each other and it stresses them out. I put a 25 watt heat light on one end of the tank. You will see that they are attracted to the heat and I feel it benefits their health and growth. I don't let the cage temp get over 85 degrees. You will have to play with the lighting to get it at the right height to get the desired temp. The glass tank you have work well but here in the US a 10 gallon tank is only 10$ new vs a terrarium which is 50$+ new. This is my first time growing out hatchlings since 2/27/13 but so far everything has been going well the way i have been doing it. In the end its all up to you how you raise your reptile children. Thank you kindly for the tips reefer, so darn excited 2 little babies walking around now going in there cage first thing in the morning figures they have just made there way out of the egg they r going to need a little bit to absorb their egg sack.. Iam 100% confident raising these little guys as I have raised panthers before from being just around a month old so this is gotta be the most rewarding feeling this Hobby has to offer. The past few nights I haven't even been able to sleep just so so excited, like a kid on Christmas x 10. Lots and lots of pictures to come

Forgot what makes this clutch even more special the female who laid the eggs had passed away however her beautiful genes still live on

Ok so two babies in there cages they have moved a little but there eyes are still shut is this normal?

Just keep in mind that they really are little walking stomachs with feet. You might want to have a few fruitfly cultures ready. I rotate out through about 5-6 per batch of babies born. But I will say I love them when they finally take a good look at the world.
