she finally pooped- I hope this pic is not to icky  it has been 6 days and this is her first one ( for me) - is this what it should look like ? and it smells awful - I know she is sick, and on meds and it has been a long time for her to not go- but it was out in this order- all the water you see, then the big white part( 1/2 of that is under the brown, and that is really snotty looking and also has what looks like yellow mucus mixed in it - ) then more water - and then the other brown that is real thick like mud - more water and then the little tiny brown at the top, all this came out in different blobs - I put the quarter to judge size- (and another reason you do NOT put money in your mouth- lol - I washed it after:D) is this a "normal " potty ?

I also think I have picked a name for her ~ she in not the first ill lizard I have had ( I have had wounded water dragons and many anole who came here needing help or just unwanted , but chams are really new to me) , but she is not yet named- I am thinking of naming her Gail - because of what my husband said when she got here " Great Another Ill Lizard - GAIL :)

Seeing as she hasn't gone for ages. This is a good start. All poos smell and I don't suppose the meds have helped.LOL the urates don't look too bad either. Keep an eye on it and keep up the good work.:)

at least you got poo! and a good amount too. being sick, the poo looks great to me. nice white urates is most important and looks like that is what you got. keep up the good work and hopefully they will keep getting better for you.

I don't know what she's sick with or what meds, but feed her well and as she gets better it will get less watery and should be just the brown and white parts really. It will also probably smell less, cham poop is not usually very bad.

thank you :) for your comments - I kinda thought it was ok- but I am so new to the Chams, I just wanted to be sure - and with her sick- but getting better :D I am just a "nervous new mother" - lol

I've read your other thread now. With the bug juice they will probably stay quite watery for a little while longer, but as mentioned it's the white colour that is most important.

My chams poo never smells! :D
Jk

stinky poo and gooey poo once in a while is okay. if the feces stays stinky and/or gooey over any length of time is a good sign of parasites or other illness and maybe even over-hydration? but i think that is good in a already sick baby.

when they excrete, the urate is encased in a bubble? that you don't usually see unless you see them in action  or find it really fresh. :)

a miniscule amount of orange or yellow in the urate is what was probably left overs from last time they went. all white and like dryish clay is the best. if the urate is yellow or chunky and crumbly, up hydration. if orange, up hydration and call a vet especially if it is continuing to darken. could be kidney problems and can only be fixed if caught in good time. all the meds can be tough on their kidneys so watch the urates closer than the poo when already under care.

lots of things affect the consistency of their poo. when their poo is mushy, watch for undigested food/bugs. if they are passing undigested food, something is wrong. that is why feeding bug pudding is really good for sick chams cuz their system doesn't have to waste energy on breaking down the food and uses those calories healing instead.

Haha GAIL, I love it :D Glad she went for you! We all know what it is like to be overjoyed at poo at some point or an other :D

I did see her go- that was the only reason I knew the order it came out- lol I weighed her after too- she was 1.2 oz, then went up to 1.4 - and now back to 1.2 - I will keep an eye on the color too- I just hope she stays on the right track - little Gail is sure a fighter :)
for some reason my husband was not as thrilled with the poo as I was- go figure - L:pL

THANK YOU- lol next time someone tells me they had a crappy day, I will tell them "that is WONDERFUL , do you have Chams too? " lol
