Yellow squash??

ive been wanting to try more fruits and veggies with my veiled and today I got a yellow squash. As far as I've seen/read squash is ok. I was going to steam some and chop it up but wonder if chopped raw pieces would be better? More is going in with my crickets and superworms to gutload....

Raw pieces are ok to give to the feeders, I would steam the ones you are going to try with your Veiled. It's harder for them to eat. Also make sure you chop it up nice and small.

You could try tossing a couple crickets or some small superworms in the squash dish and see if that peaks his interest :)
That's a great idea, will try that. He keeps looking at it and I've put a piece on my finger but so far he's like nah, no thanks lol.

My guy eat a chunk of cantaloupe--first piece of fruit I have seen him eat.
I'll have to try cantaloupe. I've tried small pieces of strawberries from my balcony garden and he wouldn't touch them. I'm gonna try throwing a cricket or worm in there with fruit/veggies.

So far he hasn't. I'm thinking he may be strictly insects, which is fine. He gets so excited when he sees crickets, whether I'm hand feeding or he sees them crawling around. Letting them loose does bring out the hunter in him, which is just as exciting for him, I think.

I'd love for him to eat fruits and veggies, but as long as his poop is normal and he's happy, I'll give him whatever he likes. He seriously gets so excited for crickets, and I'll add superworms and hornworms as a treat. I'll just gutload crickets accordingly, and he's happy. I do my best to gutload feeders but so far nothing compares to crickets and an occasional hornworm. ( I should have another batch delivered tmrw) the last ones I ordered from Josh's Frogs were too big, but they are sending another small batch for free. Bosco will be very excited....

Fiona would overdose on crickets if I let her. I gave her 10 this morning and she gulped them down and sat with her little green mittens on the cup like where's the rest:notworthy:. I don't want to over feed her because when she lays eggs I want to keep the numbers down.
