Yemen or Panther Chams?

I'm about to purchase my 1st chameleon and I'm just wondering which chameleon is:
1. More interesting.
2. Easier to keep.
I prefer the looks of the panther females but I'm not sure...

Veileds are a little more forgiving and on average both male and female Veileds get bigger than the Panthers do. However I personally like the Panthers for their beautiful colours. My veileds are way more aggressive and more willing to take your fingers off if you let them. The panthers, for the most part are more docile. However you will find the odd little renegade.

I would go with a veiled, thats the kind we went with, but its kinda up to you in the end. I've heard that panthers are a bit more hight mantience, so if you dont have a whole ton of time, you might want to consider a veiled. they seem to be really hardy.

Please be aware that if you pick a female veiled or panther you will have to deal with egglaying. They can both lay eggs without being mated.

Obviously everyone would take a panther over a veiled, but i'm really glad i got a veiled first!

just my 2 cents, good luck!

i would say go with a male veiled, they might want to take your head off but they are a good starter chameleon if thats what you want to call it, just make sure to do a lot of research on the specific kind you want to get before you do make a purchase

i would go with a male panther if you are really locked on a panther because they are more docile but you do not have to worry about the eggs.

A male is definitaly the way to go for a first cham. Veileds can withstand higher heat levels and less humidity than panthers but I really dont think there is much of a difference. Just dont count on getting a cham that likes you. My female panther is somewhat nice but my male is a complete jerk hahaha not really he just doesnt like humans which is understandable. The description I got of him said he was very very tame which isnt the case from day one. I didnt buy him because of this I got him because his dad is a hell of a looker. They are not dogs and not to be treated like dogs. Good luck and what ever choice you make you will NOT be displeased maybe addicted though hahah.

Male Panthers make better friends. Veilds are way more agressive. No need to get a female unless you plan to breed them which you may want to do later on. You also have a few different Panther flavors, while you have basicly 2 for veilds.

I don't want to threadjack, but I'm seeing phrases that indicate a veiled wil try and take your head or fingers off?! How strong is their bite? Are we talking tokay gecko proportions, or are their bites rather painless?

I don't think they are that bad, however I have never been bitten before by my male.

I know someone that would work at a petstore and would carry a full grown adult male veiled around on her shoulder all day. One day she was going to get him out of his TINY cage and he lunged and clung onto her nose.

She still has her nose, and no scare. She told me is scared her more then hurt her lol

How aggressive is he?

My current male when he gets tired of being out of the cage or something scares him, puffs up, hisses and sways as a warning.

Not so obvious.
As beautiful as I think Panthers are ... If I could start all over, I'd still go veiled.
I LOVE them!

Mines just 4 months. He's still adjusting, so he's only hissed once in the week I've had him. I just wanted to know about the future possibilities if he gets to be intractable.

Sorry, OP, I really didn't mean to threadjack, although I think this benefits both of us:)

Theres a chance he would be okay. But its hard to tell at that age. (personal belief).

I think your gunna have to just get him used to the kids when he's at this age and then wait and see how he handles it as he grows up.
