Current Problem - have noticed a lot of dead skin building up on her belly and her tail so spend a long while taking it all off she also has swollen toes and after taking some of the dead skin off her tail it went black and soft almost like a blister. her tail has also not been moving right and i found that i cant bend it up or down or to the sides. she has also lost most of her toenails. i took her to the vet today and they said her tail bones have fused all the way up to her pelvis and they cant operate and she has an infection throughout most her body which is why her toes are swolen. i have been given cream and a solution for her tail and batril and metacam to give her oraly. the vet doesnt think there is much hope for her and i might have to put her to sleep just looking for some more advice as what i should do. i am really worried about her but dont want to put her down unless there really is nothing i can do for her. any suggestions or help.
Thanks

How long has she been on the medication? Is she still eating?
Any pics?
See how she responds to the medication. Don't give up hope!!!

i could mayb put sum pics up 2morro. i havent started the treatment yet she was only in 2day ive to start 2morro n shes to go bk in in 2 weeks for another xray. the vet just put me in a major downer made it sound like she was pretty much ready to be put 2 sleep

i've just been looking through some of the other threads and i have noticed a lot about suplements. i have been only using repton and i use it with every feed (thats what the pet shop told me to do) could this be giving her problems aswell. i think i may have really messed up with her and i feel so guilty now.

You need to give her three different supplements. You need calcuim without D3. This one you will lightly dust her feeders everyother feeding. You need calcium with D3 to use twice a month. You also need a mulit vitamin to use once a month.

Keep her well hydrated while she is on the Batril. Waterfalls are not recommended because they grow bacteria. Also what type of UVB light do you have? 90 is to hot for a female. I would lower her basking temps to the lower 80's.

Can you tell if she is responding any to the medication? Keep us updated.

the ubv is a repti-glo 5.0 yeah i no the water fall can get a build up of bacteria so i clean it out every few days.
her tail is looking a bit better now not so black any more but she still can tmove it. dont think she'll ever get the movement bk in her tail.
do u think i could have caused dammage to her dusting her food every time with the repton and nothing else. u were saying about the 3 different type of suplement what one would repton fall under.
Thanks for your help

Is there any calcium or phosphorous in the Repton?

Did the vet run any tests to determine her calcium levels or do an x-ray to see how the bones were?

I'm no vet so I can only go by what I've learned over the years...but if the Repton has no calcium, then I expect your chameleon could be calcium deficient. Can you post pictures of your chameleon please?

As for the toes being swollen...did the nails on those toes pull right out?

the vet x-rayed her to find her bones have fused together but they didnt explain anything else, shes to go bk in just over a week to see how shes doing and to get another x-ray. they didnt want to take blood cause her tail was sore and thats where they said they take blood from.
i'll check the repton when i get home to see the levels of calcium and i'll try get some pics of her. i think her toe nails just fell off but it happenend a long time ago and now i cant remember how it happened.

If your chameleon has a calcium issue, it needs to be corrected as well as bringing your supplementation into line.

ok thats kl if the second two are right so what else am i looking for for the other one. yeah i dont know if she has a calcium problem or how to fix it if she does.

If you could post some pictures we could look at her legs and see if it looks like a calcium problem. We need some good pics of her legs.

As for the supplements I use these first three. http://www.petmountain.com/search/0/...?s=supplements

I use the green at everyother feeding.....my veileds are adults. If you have a young veiled you would use at just about every feeding.

The pink, use twice a month and the blue once a month

It's the blue one......the multi. vit. that you are missing.
