yemen skin/tail problem

Some indications of calcium issues include but are not limited to...
inability to project the tongue completely, the look of an extra "elbow" above the real one, crooked legs, flexible casque, inability to lift the body off the ground/branch when moving, loss of appetite, sitting low in the cage.

she doesnt seem to show any of these signs u'v described. so mayb its not a calcium deficiency. shes 3 and a half so am not sure but i guess shes an adult lol. am just about to sit down and get some pics so i'll get them up 2nyt. incase this helps here is a link to the type of supplement i am using the now.

I just saw the feet and i guess thats something that has to do with calcium intake, the toes are crooked. And the 4th picture on her skull looks quite im sorry to say , deformed? it looks very uneven. The skin problems i have no idea, looks like a uv burn

A more skilled person with medical experience will answer a better one.

She definitely has calcium deficiency. Use the supplements that were explained to you and also gutload your feeder insects with a good gutload such as cricket crack, https://www.chameleonforums.com/cricket-crack-sale-23533/ , and fruits and veggies. Also, if she will eat them which veileds usually do, give her fruits and veggies that are safe such as kale, apples, mangos, cucumbers, etc. no citrus! That is all the imfo I have for now really, my little girl was like this when I got her too, she is doing much better. Good luck!

As for the tail, it looks like a bacterial skin infection. Maybe a staph infection? You should go to different vet to get a second opinion before you decide to put her down.

Has she shown any improvement since you started the medication? You might have mentioned it earlier and I missed it...scanned through here pretty fast. From the pictures; I think she can be saved. Don't give up on her just yet.

i think her head just looks funny cause when i first got her she managed to burn herself and she kinda grew up and it made it look weird.
i'll try n get the calcium w/o d3 asap to see if that will help does any one know if the repton i have just a muiltivit. i posted the link earlier for it.
her tail is starting to look better got another week of treatment then shes bk to the vet.
thanks for the encoragement i wont give up yet hopefully with somemore calcium supplement and some fruit n veg will help her along.
do you think she'll manage ok without the movment in her tail if it doesnt come bk.

Repeating what I said before because its important...If your chameleon has a calcium issue, it needs to be corrected as well as bringing your supplementation into line.

A vet can test to make sure that it is a calcium issue (but I'm pretty sure there is an imbalance). The vet can give her injections of calcium until the blood calcium levels are high enough to give it some calcitonin which will draw the calcium back into her bones rapidly.

In the meantime, you could get a liquid calcium (calcium sandoz or calcium gluconate) to give her orally as well as make sure that she gets proper lighting.

Not all calcium imbalances are simply a lack of calcium. Calcium, D3, vitamin A and phosphorous all play parts in bone health and they need to be in balance. You need to look at what supplements you are using, what you feed to the insects and what you feed to the chameleon when trying to balance them.

well kiwi is off to the vet 2morro but i dont think its going to b good news her tail is just getting worse every day now it has spread all the way up and her scales are falling off and shees bleeding a little. shes also starting to lose a lot of weight her ribs are showing and her face is all drawn in. i dont no what to do every time i take her out to treat her i just end up crying. :(

have you tried force feeding her? If she's loosing weight from not eating thats what I would do so she can at least get some nutrition to possibly help fight infection.

no the funny thing is shes still eating like a horse i feed her every day the same as usuall and she still eats everything i gave her.

no i dont think so she said she doesnt want to give her an injection cause they normally inject the tain and obv they cant do it there as its infected. what is a staph injection anyway.

soz miss read thought u said injection
