Thank you for the compliments. The first one is a 3 month female K. tavetana and the second is a 5 month male quad.

LOL Sorry I'm not meant for mornings, I thought both of those were your Quad!

I stand corrected she and he are enjoying those flies! LOL

She is a cutie!

where can u get them bottle flies?? thanks

mantisplace.com is a great place! If you need more than 5,000 you can go to forkedtreeranch.com

They make an excellent feeder. They are clean, no mess, no odor, easy to care for and the chameleons love them. Plust the blue bottle gutload that mantisplace sells is excellent.

Hey Tom,

Its nice to see your quad baby is doing well and enjoying some bb flys.
How big has he got? Mine just reached 8g last night. And my new one from Luis is just 2g.

Harry my quad is running close in size to yours. My guy was about 9grams, 1 week ago. I do believe he has shed 3 times since he arrived here.

I have yet to locate a CB female quad. :( I have found plenty of WC.

dust those flies with bee pollen!!! my animals love bb's!!!

Right on!! I bought the BBfly gutload at mantisplace and it is a fine powder of Bee pollen, and plenty of other goodies. I can dust the flies or lay a nice layer on wood chips for them to eat. The chameleons seem to go into a feeding frenzy over BBflies.

Yes!!! ALL my chameleons can never resist them. These own over horn worms any given day! :)

You know what I do with my babies?

This is with house flies, but it also works with blue bottle flies.

Place a small pixie cup filled with 25% of each item.

Crushed up bee pollen, you can buy it dirt cheap offline.

Plain sugar.

Water.

Wood chips or apsen fiber, whatever can allow them to cling to something while leaning towards the wet mix. They'll hydrate themselves and gain the energy they need to fly.

Blue bottle flies need a wet dog food mix in order to last longer, but I do not do that for neither my chameleons nor mantids.

Powdered buttermilk mixed with sugar and honey and water is great for house flies, just in case you get into them.

And some info. to save money for you, go to forkedtreeranch.com, call them and talk to Pam and order 6 cups of pupae, as soon as you receive it, take out some pupae and put the rest in the fridge. You will still get a good hatch rate from them being in the fridge for over 3 weeks.

Spiderpharm.com is the ultimate site, best prices, Chuck really knows how to breed nice and clean flies.

Don't forget to stun them by putting them in the fridge for 20 minutes, this is a whole lot safer than putting them in the freezer for 2 minutes.

Excellent Idea man, thanks for the pointers!

Whoa, those guys are sweet!! Great action shots, I love the first one.

Thanks for the compliments! The first is my fav. too, I can't wait till these little ones get bigger.

Lookin good, Tom!!!! The little tav girl looks to be coming along nicely and the quad too. None of my chams can resist flies of any type. One other thing I dust mine with is spirulina or wheat grass powder. Both have about the same ingredients in them but one might have more than the other so I switch it up a bit.

As colorcham said, definitely use the fridge to slow them down. The freezer method can easily kill off all your flies. I have forgot mine in the fridge for hours and they are fine.

Tom you are doing a wonderful job with the little quad. He about as big as the male I just sent to Luis. He is the biggest of the lot at 10 grams. The female I sent him is around 6 grams. Thanks for the pictures and update. I saw him in the photo contest for this month - hope he wins!!:D

Your tav is also doing great. I have another one coming from Jared the first of the week. After that I am limited to tavs, jacksons & quads. And my one 6 year old panther. hard to believe I am going down to 15 chameleons. I don't remember the last time I just had 15.

I hope he wins too....only problem is there are so many good ones in the competition.

15, sounds like you need more. :)
