Hi all i just wanted to post some pics of Zee on his 1st birthday. It is a huge milestone for him, and before anyone says it yes he is very tiny for a 1 year old he was a runt(he was the size of a matchbook from head to tail) and born breach. I could not get an acurate measurement of him but he is between 8 1/4" to 8 1/2" long now. In one of the pics you can see his pattern. He got mad when I brought the camera near him and puffed up. I hope you all like his pictures. For his special day he got extra crickets and some wax worms. :D

Is anyone else perplexed by the female coloration and spurs??? There is not a male barred pattern to be found on this little one.

Casque shape and size and overall size are much more in line with a female-no obvious man-bulge?????

Ha, yeah, I was thinking the same thing... Maybe they discovered a third sex in chameleons! XD Anyway,, Happy Birthday Zee!!

Here is one of his spur. and his stripes they are faint. I did post one Zee in his pjs with a better pic of his pattern. He is definitely a boy.

I certainly see the spurs-but females show those stripes-males have difinitive barring.

Am i just blessed to have big beautiful Veileds that look like male Veileds with yellow stripes and clear barring? Does anyone else own one of these feminine looking males or is this a joke? Even my runty, deformed 1.5 year old male Veiled looks like a normal male Veiled in coloring! Help-am I the crazy one here?

Like I said-I see the spurs-but NOTHING else looks male about that chameleon.

He may look like he is pouting in the second picture because he has a small deformity on his upper lip. His one sister's was worse. I don't have a picture of her, but my sister-inlaw said she looked like she had a cleft lip. His is very slight parts of his upper lip are indented. They both have no trouble eating. My sister-in-law had his sister and then gave her to her boyfriend's niece.

Zee is awesome no matter what, it's not the looks but the fact that he is a cham and I heart him.

Thank you. My family and I love him too. My daughters laugh at me when I talk to him. They tell me 'Mom he has no ears he can't hear you.' I tell them so what it's the thought that counts they are 15 and 9 and all knowing.

This is very strange males should be barred at six months. Spikes started coming in at about 3 months and showed up fully by 4 months. The coloration is exactly like a female, my only guess is TRANSVESTITE CHAMELEON im sorry man but your dude looks like a dudette

I am not trying to be mean-that little one sounds like he has a very caring home indeed-I just NEVER see male Veileds that look like that, but this week 2 people are showing male chams that have spurs that are old enough by far to show male coloration that look exactly like females, and then people post I clearly see bars but not many people are saying that looks nothing like what a year old MALE veiled should look like.

Does it really matter?

I think it is you that are being defensive-we are just inquisitive. He is really a year old-look through past posts. I am just super curious because even though I have seen smaller, deforemed chams-they still show typical male coloration.

So-does it matter? No

But is it interesting? Yes.
