Zoomed dayight blue bulb

Hi guys I was wondering if this bulb can be used for chams

Thanks!

The Daylight Blue Bulbs by Zoo Med and others do not give very "blue" light.

It is what is called a color corrected incandescent bulb.

The blue glass is there to filter & off-set the un-natural yellow rays / yellow cast of incandescent light (4K).

So the light from the bulb appears closer to the natural kelvin color of daylight 5.5k - 6.8K.

Thats about it.

In theory, the light looks more like natural whiter sunlight.
And that is why the Zoo Med Daylight bulb and others like it are used.:)
If it is the correct wattage for heating purposes and you already have it, or you like the light from those bulbs because it is more visually natural looking light...
then you can use those.
Or you can use regular incandescent bulbs for heat, too.:D

Cheers!

You can use them for chams, but I wouldn't recomend them just because I had two different ones, and the first one got stuck in the light hood because the base that screws in came off(that was a pain) and then I thought, maybe I just got a bad one. So i got another and it broke within a month of use...so I just use regualr incondesent bulbs :p

Short answer is yes. You can. I have used this exact bulb before and it works fine. Some breeders even include this exact bulb in their starter chameleon packs. It does not glo blue though like some others are saying but a more natural whitish. Blue bulbs have been around for a long time and some go for a lot of money, but just keep in mind these are one of the cheaper made bulbs. I've had ones that have went bad in only a day or two. If your buying from a store check the bulb first. When they are handled roughly the inside filament is easily broken. Good luck

Thanks!! :)

Hey!
chamycham~
Is your cage big enough to do 2 basking spots?
I would love to know if the Cham is drawn to one more than the other - assuming all other factors were equal -- like heat etc etc.

If you get to test it, could you do us a favor and share your findings? pleeeese.
You would be a hero!

Cheers
