My Female Veiled chameleon just over a year old laid 32 eggs most of them hatched and where healthy. I was just hoping to get some insight on her coloration. While she was fat with all the eggs she didn't really show any gravid coloration, yet she didn't see a male since she mated so she might...
Its definitely gonna take more time than one day for her to dig and lay eggs, they can take along time of scratching around and searching for a good spot to dig, but its usually pretty obvious she is carrying eggs that are fertile but infertile is hard to notice b4 its too late.
how long has...
Seriously that last pic looks photoshoped but that Parsons is awesome. I love those guys cant w8 for some to get to South Africa :0 market hasnt boomed much here yet :)
that male looks small though, if that female gets hold of it she will eat it while they try and mate, if im not mistaken most mantis species do while mating or after or something like that lols.
personally i reckon it will be difficult to pull off. u might end up with the cham sitting near the sensor and the water jus continuously spraying for a long time.
Seems a bit of a technical system but it wouldnt be a bad idea for a shower for humans ROFL.
i reckon if you put a male/female panther/jacksons and a veiled male/female they would end up just attacking each other to death rather than trying to mate.
which would be very gorey and ugly to watch...
ye, ty for the info, i have 5 veiled chams atm and was jus exploring the idea as it would be quite cool to have a sort of free 'roaming' area that is still a cage but they actually have a lot of space.
With these free range cages how does it work with regards to if you have several chams, does each one need a free range area seperate from one another? otherwise they will stress out?
Your Chameleon - Panther Cham 4months old and been in cage for 1month
Handling - Not yet attempted to handle
Are you sure its not the fact that he is really frightened of you, do you know if any1 has handled him from birth and what situation he was in prior to you getting the lil guy?
I...
Edit: Oh and I dont think it is necessary for you to cut any eggs open Andre.
Unless they are quite obviously dead.
LOLS, ye it would not be advised :)
Its true they have gone steadily from too high temperatures with too much humidity to lower temps with less humidity. i have now decided to stick with the temps they are at now which is approx between 20 - 23 degrees celcius.
I have noticed though that now that i reduced the humidity the...
Not that im such a professional but ive been reading alot of breeders ideas and most of them reckon the temp doesnt have to be too high. As you can imagine the eggs in the wild are in the ground, so the eggs are not likely to have too much heat, jus a lil but humidity as far as ive read seems to...
ive had to try now to lower my temps by actually taking the lid off my polystyrene incubator and the heaters out.
sitting at about 22 - 23 degrees celcius now.
apparently i read up on the net that its better to have lower temps so the eggs dont hatch early and the babies hatch bigger. The...
Looks good, but heard that glass cages reduce ventilation heavily and can get alot hotter inside than screen.
personally I think screen cages are the best to house chams.
Was wondering if anyone had info on whether its harmful to have my veiled chameleon eggs sitting at 82 degrees F? or is it still ok?
Its hard atm to get it any lower as the temps here in SA are hot atm + cant get incubators around here so have to use ur own, homemade?
Any more info would...
