It doesn't matter so much of the wattage of the bulb than the basking temp, I have a 50 watt lightbulb that I got from petsmart and I have 82f basking temp about a foot away from the light. Gunna replace it with a 40 watt or maybe less wattage housebulb after it burns out
Has anyone every purchased a magnum, orange crush, or yellow mako veiled chameleon from tikitikireptiles? If so what did they turn out to look like as adults
I am still waiting for the calcium w/out d3 to come in the mail. I have not dusted any of her food for the past two days. I decided that it is a good time to switch her feedings to every other day. So she got 4 crickets and 2 butterworms today and she also got about two hours in the sun today...
Lol saw your thread and I was like "hey this person comented on my thread and turns out we both did the exact same thing basically" here's a link to what I ordered after realizing my mistake http://www.reptilesupply.com/product.php?products_id=119
What is the coolest thing your chameleon has done? Ill start, hanging by only her tail to be able to reach a cricket, and jumping off my hand and onto a vine on her cage and caught herself (gave me a heart attack though lol) and this thing where she reaches out to go onto another vine then grabs...
She is not lethargic anymore. I do still think that she is starting to produce a clutch though. I am not completely sure why she was being like that before, now she doesn't get sunken eyes and has all white urate and is very alert and active(for a chameleon) she recently within the last week...
She had a little bit of signs when I first got her with a little bit of a tiny dent on the front middle of her casque. It is a little bit better now and has not gotten wors. No other signs of mbd that I can tell. Im taking her to the vet over the summer to get a checkup on her health and test...
Sorry that it is a link and that they are kindof not the best pictures. But just wanted to tell you that my girl had a calcium deficiency when I got hwer which is the cause of the little dent/bend in the one spot on her casque, it has since improved a little bit and has not gotten worse at...
They get shaken up in a little plastic bag that you get fish in from the pet store and I put them in a cup and she eats them within 20 seconds of the insects getting in her sight. But I just hope that she doesn't have any damage done from d3 overdose or somethin like that
She looks good except for those eyes are sunken in which can signal dehydration or some other sickness. You should take her to a vet experienced with exotic reptiles to know what if anything is wrong with her, also have her fecal matter checked for parasites. Imo she looks kinda small or you...
The uvb aids in the synthesizing of the d3 and in absorbing calcium. The temperatures are very important for your girl she should probably have a basking temperature of 82 give or take a degree. Do you have a compact (coil) uvb bulb? If so that could be the cause of her keeping her eyes closed...
Lol seems like we all posted about the same time so I feel kinda dumb sayin what you two both said. Except I just kinda estimated on the conversion from pounds to kg. But if it has just a low amount of d3 would I be able to use that everyday and cut out the repcal calcium with d3?
It says its 100,000 iu/pound. The repcal says 400,000 iu/kg. And 1 pound is .453 kg so would that make the flukers 50,000 iu/kg? Or am I completely off lol
