She is a female veiled chameleon. I dust the crickets with Rep-Cal phosphorous free calcium with VIT.D3 Ultrafine powder. I dont feed the crickets lettuce like I used to because I noticed more died faster. My chameleon only leaves her cage when I hold her.

In order to change certain colors, do chameleon have to be exposed to it first or do maybe they have to "learn" new colors?

I believe you will be fine. I am still a paranoid owner and i have had my chameleon for months. Monitor your chameleon and worry when needed. It's cool, trust me you will learn.
