THAT is truly interesting. I wonder is this can be confirmed. The "Arcadia Cultists" (lol) who swear by this brand over all others would have a cow.
I'm with james0o0. You will need to mist regularly for the proper health of your cham. Chams will usually drink off the mist on the leaves. Fake plants do not hold moisture or humidity well.
Glass should work well in your environment.
Here's more original setup when I got my panther baby...
Since your soliciting for advise, take a look at the Odysea series of lights found in many places on the web. They are sometimes a fraction of the cost of some other lights that are favorites of many forum members, but are actually the exact same unit with a different name and price. Just be...
I don't know. They appear in random places. The bathroom, the kitchen, they are not limited to one area, almost as if they are lost or got separated from a convoy or something....
Well, I'm not sure I want to attempt it. I've seen 4-5 in the last week or two, definitely carpenter ants...
That doesn't seem like a good idea to me. Not only will the enclosure be very hard to see into but I think the metal would be prone to rusting or corrosion given the environment it will be subjected to.
Defiantly not an option for the top, but MAYBE one side or something. Personally, I would...
I just updated my Fans with this:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01MZ6VNII/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I haven't cleaned out the residual water yet from my misting today, but the humidity is sitting at 58%. When the the lights go out and the controller goes into the night...
:cool:We have a small problem with large carpenter ants this year at my home. Before they get worse and I spray the beginning of the infestation, are they good for Chams to eat?
These are nice large black ants. They don't seem to bite and rather tame.
Do I :
Spray them and kill them
Throw...
Why would it not work? I have it set for dehumidify, so when the terrarium get too humid, it turns on a fan to generate airflow to draw out the humid air. Once it get to the safe spot, the fans go off. I can also have it control a dehumidifier on the enclosure or any combination of things...
This issue is one of the reasons why I made this:
You don't want to blow air in, but suck air out. The key is to have proper ventilation in your design, meaning you have to be able to get air in thru the lower part of the enclosure. The fan on top then sucks out the warm air and and...
Contrary to some of the posts above, glass works fine. Many people who are not pros (Like me!) use them regularly with success. URI is possible no matter what the set up, screen or glass. You have to simply be sure to get an enclosure designed for proper air flow. Then the natural heat and...

So a lot has happened in the last month.
HUMIDITY ISSUE
I have had some successes and setbacks with Sherman's humidity. The good news is that I believe (knock on wood) I may finally have it under control. The...
:(
I've seen a few post about "bioactive" enclosures. Not sure what that means as I have skipped over the threads ..(Why dive into something if you are still fighting a current issue right?) I'll have to look and see how it fits with my current plans and how it affects humidity. That may...
Well, I am over joyed that this behavior is somewhat "Normal" . Your stories and comments make me laugh as my Cham Sherman is doing everyone of those things! Just yesterday, he was at the front door of his terrarium and was doing the "window washing/ waving" thing so I opened the doors and...
