Looks to me, not 100% sure...
that what happened was he is/was getting burned while basking and the screen (if the bulb is too hot/close enough) can actually get hot enough to cut them like that. i've heard horror stories of it happening to veiled chams quite often. i'd suggest scheduling a vet...
don't worry, it normally takes a few weeks for them to get used to their environment. as you feed him he'll associate you with food and learn to trust you, along with proper misting and all that. The only time Karma isn't cooperative is cleaning day :/
If you need him out try opening the...
Make sure your enclosure is set up before you get him/her home that way they can get comfortable quickly. and get some supplements for their food so they stay healthy. As far as enclosures go. i'd say get a screen enclosure, tehy seem best for humidity and health in general. Can't say an exact...
i think worries just got the best of me again. still perfectly fine. since i didn't wanna wake up the sleeping beauty i decided to back off. i have all day tomorrow to make sure he's still okay. next time he does it i'm going to turn the light off and see if he stops(should have done that in the...
he always sleeps vertical so it's always technically up. but i have already been observing him for around an hour and he only made noise rustling the leaves to hide for the night. accidentally woke up him just 3 minutes ago... feel like a jerk :(
he hasn't made any noise at all. and yea he only...
my thoughts exactly. but a noise accompanied with opening their mouth a lot is said to be early signs of one. i'm a worry wart about my son and my teeth already (that whole root canal thing). so i thought i'd get opinions.
add on: don' tknow if this has anything to do with opening his mouth buuuuuuuuuut.......
Yesterday he had an... "accident" while i was cleaning poop from his enclosure, literally just reaching in and grabbing it. he managed to climb to the top of the door and "jump" to the shelf holding his...
So far tonight (the past 2 hours) i've noticed Karma opening his mouth a lot and he'll only do it when im not around. When i come check on him it'll be open and as i slowly approach him or if he spots me he'll close it and just stare at me like i'm insane or something. I had misted him about an...
Needs more foliage, vines, branches to climb on up top. chams don't really want to be low to the ground/looking up at you, or anything for that matter. you also need a basking spot for the little guy. i don't know what the exact temp should be because i don't know his age or what cham he is...
I get my repcal products online for calcium with d3 w/out d3 and multivitamin. if you have to go to a local pet store and they don't have it for some reason have them order it for you. if they carry calcium with d3 they can order without (don't know why they wouldn't have one but not the...
was going to give a rundown but the blogs pretty much said it all.
never forget to try to have backup bulbs, it's not like you KNOW when it will go out. I buy my heat bulbs from stores because it's like 8 dollars a bulb and a 30 day guarantee but for the price of 1 uvb bulb at the local pet...
Chameleons have been my favorite animal since i was little and my family has never been big on anything other than cats and dogs... and i'm allergic to cats. Been on my own for about 5 years now (23 yo) and finally got my first cham about 2 weeks ago. Having a chameleon and taking care of him is...
i know how you feel Karma gets freaked out sometimes when i come to mist/check on him and i feel like the biggest ******* in the world just for the few seconds it takes. This lady needs to get outta the "im crazy and have an animal i pet and touch when i shouldn't" phase of her life. It reminded...
i have a "scratchy" vine that my boy likes to scratch against to get loose shed of him. I also mist him a little extra along with a series of vines that he can climb though that will grab his loose shed if he so choose to venture through.
