My male veiled does the same thing .... I just ignore him and go about my business. If I need him to get out i just use one hand in front and scoop with the other. Then I get the look of "meany, I was trying to be scary." I still take him out every few days and hold him so that he learns that I am not bad, then I give him wax worms as a treat for being good and letting me hold him.
It worked for my female Veiled. It seems to be working for him too, he just likes to act bad at first. lol
Yes I will be patient! Just want to be able to handle him when he's older for free ranging and/or vet visits. Will try again next week.... He turns from his blue to green with black stripes. He does not hiss or hide and comes towards me when the cage door is closed! Go figure He secretly admires me lol
don't worry, it normally takes a few weeks for them to get used to their environment. as you feed him he'll associate you with food and learn to trust you, along with proper misting and all that. The only time Karma isn't cooperative is cleaning day :/
If you need him out try opening the door to the enclosure and seeing if he want to come explore and if he does slowly put your hand where his next step would be and hold it there as long as he's not trying to eat it he'll come on and crawl while you get what ya need from him.
in an odd way it makes me feel like i'm working with a hostile dog
