    temperature gun recommendations?

Thanks everyone. I ordered the Harbor Freight one before seeing the last post. I'm sure it will be fine. I am in Ft. Lauderdale and our temps are getting pretty hot outside. Jack is near a window, although there is some foliage outside the window that shields some of the sun's rays. Still...

    Open mouth Jackson's

OK, thanks. I was going to order one online but will go to a reptile store in the morning and buy a temp gun. I see no visible signs of any infection. I did try to rule that out as I know this could be a sign. I have a feeling it's related to the humidity. I removed the substrate about...

    Open mouth Jackson's

My Jackson's mouth has been open during the day. I thought it was excessive heat. I turned the lamp off and he closed his mouth. However, when I went home and checked on him at lunch, it was open and the lamp was off. I put the lamp on and moved it to the farthest corner. My guages are...

    temperature gun recommendations?

Hi there, My Jackson's chameleon has begun opening his mouth lately and spending more time on the bottom of his cage. He has been eating and drinking as usual. I do not believe he is showing aggression by this mouth opening. I checked the digital thermometer and realize it has to be...

    Screen cages

I found some beauties on Craigslist. Just really clean them out. I use a dilute chlorhexidine spray, white vinegar, well-rinsed.

Live Plants for Baby Cham cage

I believe philodendron are toxic, though pothos is not. They look similar. I'm trying to decipher which I have at the moment, too. I read online that pothos don't have the white running through the leaves but am waiting for confirmation here before I put it in.

    Philodendron or pothos?

Hmmm, upsetting as I certainly don't want to put a philodendron in there. Any way to be sure?

    Philodendron or pothos?

Thanks. So you agree that the ones with the white striations are definitely pothos?

    Philodendron or pothos?

Hi there, When I bought my "pothos" awhile ago, I thought I knew what I was buying. When my veiled got sick, I reexamined the enclosure and everything else and began to wonder if the pothos was actually a philodendron. I need to add live vegetation to the enclosure so I was looking online...

    Steve Irwin on Chameleons

Love him, may he rest in peace. He was the inspiration behind my children's wildlife club. Just yesterday, my middle son, 10, mentioned him as one of his role models. He wanted to change the world and he did. I hope to show this clip to the WOW! (Wild Over Wildlife) club at the next meeting...

    Post Office Nightmare

Wow, wish we had asked the forum about shipping last week and avoided the trouble. I have shipped fire bellied newt eggs without any issues with the USPS Express Mail, but again, they were eggs. The thought of my veiled sitting in the dark, cold PO lost still makes me cringe. I'm so grateful...

    a little concerned

OK, great. I just handfed him a mealworm that he readily accepted. Getting those basking temps now that the new thermometer is set up. Pet store was out of super worms but ordered Phoenix worms as the prior owner said that he loves his worms and dubia - guess it's time to enter into the roach...

    a little concerned

Thanks, David. My thermometer had broken a few weeks back. My husband is getting a new one now as I type. I will be sure all is well in that dept. Question: I have a room that is full of various birds a few rooms away from my reptiles. You can hear the birds. I am worried that this could...

    a little concerned

Hi again, A wonderful member on the board was unable to keep his veiled so he sent him to me. There was a huge mix up at the Post Office after FedEx refused to ship person-to-person (would ship between businesses.) Anyway, the poor guy was shipped on Monday, overnight delivery, but I did...

    Post Office Nightmare

I guess there are new laws and FedEx would only ship between businesses as that was our first attempt. The sender was phoned to come back and pick him up, so it was back to square one. Dana

    Post Office Nightmare

One of our members was shipping me his veiled chameleon he could no longer keep. He sent it Express mail on Monday. The chameleon didn't ship out until Tues. from the SW - I live in the SE. Basically, when he didn't arrive Wednesday, we grew concerned. Yesterday (Thurs.) he was unable to be...

My new nosy be committed suicide...:(

So sorry for the tragedy. We've had our share of crazy things here, too. I've heard they can fall and that you needed to not have a high cage initially because of this, but I don't know anyone who lost one due to a fall (though do know of a leopard gecko being lost that way.) No loss is ever...

    Care Sheets

Thanks, everyone. I will keep an eye out for the care sheets. Glad to know I wasn't starving my Senegal. I, too, have heard these guys were WC for the most part. I really despise that! I hope some hobbyists can get a captive breeding program going soon, although I heard it's very...

    Care Sheets

Thanks, everyone. My caudate (newts) forum has a section on care sheets so I thought that i may have been missing that link here. I just would like to know the consensus on how much to feed the Senegal. Is the advice I received poor? It was 3 crickets/day with a day or two of fasting each...

    Care Sheets

Hi there, I just joined and am happy I found this forum. The advice and compassion has been outstanding. I was sent a care sheet for my veiled, but I was wondering if there was a general area to find these care sheets for my other species (Jackson's and Senegal.) I received some poor...
