Here’s my questionnaire...
Chameleon Info:
◦ Your Chameleon - Veiled Chameleon, 4 months, male. He arrived last Friday, so, in my care for six days.
◦ Handling - How often do you handle your chameleon? Never. I set him free into his enclosure and he’s been there since.
◦ Feeding - What are...
I wanted to come by to introduce my new boy, Duncan. He’s 4 months old and much more skittish than my old girl Claudia ever was.
I just wanted to quickly ask if anyone had any tips or tricks to get him to hand feed? I like to give the occasional horn worm as a snack and really only ever hand...
I forgot to come back here with the result of the digging. She successfully laid 28 perfect little non-fertile eggs and is doing great. A much easier ordeal than the first go around with 49 eggs and two trips to the vet. We are starting to get the hang of this! :D
Looks like you were correct Jann! That's why I love this place! She's back in the sand digging away today, has been there a few hours doing her thing so I'm just leaving her be to get it done.
I was weighing her weekly but haven't for awhile. She's not very nice now that she's an adult and gets super stressed and hisses/lunges when I try to get her out to weigh her. She looks normal, gave her a nice long misting just in case and she drank happily. I was surprised to even see the hole...
Hi, all!
Long time since I've been here. But I'm back with a question. My lady has eggs again *heavy sigh* -- but things have been much quicker this time. I took a peek in there just a bit ago and she was perched on her favorite twig and had created a nice hole in her sand. Great! Well, the...
She wasn't mated, no. So sadly they definitely are infertile. She's my only cham, so there wasn't any secret rendezvous that I didn't know about either lol.
Alright, I couldn't take the anticipation any longer. She's asleep now, so I went in there and got the eggs. She laid 49 of them. I can't imagine how exhausted she must be.
I haven't gotten in there to look yet. I wanted to give her a little bit of time to relax and I didn't want to stress her out by digging in here just yet. I'll probably get in there tomorrow. That said she is super thin! So I know she got them out haha.
She's done! She spent all morning and afternoon filling in the hole she dug and now she's back up top warming up and relaxing. She's had about 10 crickets so far and I just gave her enclosure a thorough misting. She's done very well, I am proud of my girl :)
Well, I am reviving this old thread here. I am happy to report that at this very moment, Claudia is hard at work digging in her lay box. She has spent the last few days digging test holes, but I'm pretty sure she's settled on one now. I am leaving her to it and checking in on her with the camera...
Sounds like exactly what Claudia is going through right now. She's dropped quite a few grams in just a week and looking slimmer by the day. Of course I'd pick a girl that leaves me worried for months lol.
Yeah, I saw you say that it's not common for veileds to do it, but I've either seriously overlooked something in her enclosure, or that's exactly what's happening lol. The vet was actually surprised at how healthy and wonderful she looked. She said she was expecting a sick little girl to come in...
I have a solid update for everyone. Just got home from the vet and, while she does still have eggs, she is in wonderful health and the eggs have lessened considerably. The vet thinks she's either secretly laying or reabsorbing (which I hear is rare for Veileds) because comparing her old x-ray to...
