Just to add another voice to the consensus, I too get most of my plants from Home Depot. After a good washing and repotting with organic soil, they're good to go :)
Update: She did it again today after eating a few Phoenix worms! It's amazing that she's doing it since she gets her medicine with a syringe too and she hates it. I figured she'd just start to associate the syringes with the meds, but she hasn't. Makes me happy :D
You can get a reptile-safe ficus (and other plants) over at LLLReptile's website. I got mine there and I love it, as does my cham.
I'm not confident in answering the question about the branches, though, so I'll let someone with more experience chime in on that one.
Still waiting. Still watching. Nothing happening. But she's doing wonderfully otherwise. Drinking, eating (just a couple dubias every other day is what I've decided to do), and taking her liquid calcium like a champ. My patience is really being tested here. I used to think I had the patience of...
I should probably start keeping a chart of when they pupate. I've just put so many into the dirt that it's hard to keep track. I do know that I had about 5 pupate on September 12th, so I've got some waiting to do before I'm at the 4-5 week mark. I mist them daily, sometimes twice as well, cause...
I am jealous you're getting so many eggs! I still have about 15-20 cocoons that I'm waiting on. Everything is all set up; old Reptibreeze, the hummingbird feeder and nectar, a plant, but.. no months lol. Just a bunch of wiggly cocoons. Are there any clues to knowing if they're close to hatching?
I feel like this is a notable milestone for me and Claudia. I've been trying since the day I got her to drink from either a dropper or a syringe. She's such a shy drinker that I can probably count on one hand how many times I've actually witnessed her drinking (something that freaked me out to...
It's time to have the ol' birds and the bees talk with your little girl, and get that lay bin set and ready for her.
No worries. She's fine, she's just a lady now. A lady that'll need to lay eggs soon.
I am so, so sorry to hear about Novi. It really is a difficult decision, and it's good to see that no matter what, you have her best interest at heart. I hope you can come to peace quickly with whatever decision you make for her. Hang in there.
How cute is your son? I love it -- "Does he eat the poop?" LOL. And I love that little "Heads up to the sky" thing they do when they are swallowing it up.
Do you have a basking light for him? I'm not positive, but it looks like what you're using is just a UVB light? They also need a place for basking, where the temperature is higher. It aids in digestion and many other things. Sorry if I'm mistaken, I'm not familiar with that lighting...
It's possible that he's still trying to get used to his new home, but that's just one possibility. The gaping could be a few things, if you were looking at him, he may have been trying to intimidate you, or it could be something more than that, it's hard to say since we didn't see it happen...
Yeah, I actually got my ficus from LLLReptile and it's fantastic. I also have tillandsias from them too that are still in wonderful shape. Just wish they had a pothos!
I'm in the process of changing Claudia's cage to allow the big laying bin to stay at the bottom of the cage at all times now that she's reached egg laying age. This means that the potted ficus I have had in there for the last few months had to come out. I'm now using it as a free range plant for...
What are you feeding them and gut loading them with? Have you gotten a fecal test done lately? To get a better idea on specifics, could you fill out the how to ask for help form? Also, do you have any pictures of the chams you can post?
