Drinking From Syringe!

I feel like this is a notable milestone for me and Claudia. I've been trying since the day I got her to drink from either a dropper or a syringe. She's such a shy drinker that I can probably count on one hand how many times I've actually witnessed her drinking (something that freaked me out to no end in the beginning).

Time and time again I've tried to get her to drink from the dropper/syringe and sometimes she'd start to drink only to realize that I was watching her and she'd stop immediately. Well, today, I tried a different syringe. An extra larger one that the vet gave me. Filled it up with water, slowly dropped a few drips onto her casque and let it run down and low and behold, she stood up on her back two feet and started drinking right from the syringe. She even let me stop and fill it back up three different times and it didn't break her concentration on drinking. But of course, as with everything, as soon as I started recording video of it -- she stopped.

We may not have it down to an exact science yet, and maybe today was just a fluke, but man do I feel proud that we've gotten to this point lol.

Update: She did it again today after eating a few Phoenix worms! It's amazing that she's doing it since she gets her medicine with a syringe too and she hates it. I figured she'd just start to associate the syringes with the meds, but she hasn't. Makes me happy :D

I try to teach all my chams to drink from a syringe. Not all do, but it really helps me gauge how well they are staying hydrated. And, its a nice way to get some face time with them.

I do believe we've got this whole drinking thing down, now. She's been happily and eagerly letting me give her droplets of water from the syringe since the day I posted this thread originally. I am so pleased! I've seen her drink more in a few days than I have since I got her :D

Excellent.

Any hydration method, is a good hydration method, if its working for you and the Cham.

The more options you provide, the more likely they are to use one of them :)
