I used to be petrified of bugs too, and I was afraid to hold the dubias when I first got them. But these are not "house" roaches you see in like new york. I guarantee you you will be pro-roach in a few months lol. just make sure you put vaseline around the top 1/4 of the tank.
That picture doesn't show him very well. and would you be able to post your setup with the "how to ask for help" sticky form in the health forum? There are many factors that could lead to stunted growth besides just genetics
You can't unfortunately. Until you find babies. If I were you I would start a colony of dubias and a colony of hissers like I do. That way it is less of a strain on just one colony. I got my dubias from gotdubias.com, great website and awoke starter package price!
Nope. Makes it easier to clean. And for your previous post, males have "horns" on their heads, females aren't so prominent. The one in the picture is a male http://animals.nationalgeographic.com/animals/bugs/madagascar-hissing-cockroach/
That's a male, and he is shedding. That may be why. Keep offering food, maybe a new variety of feeders. It took my chameleon over a month to start eating when I got him. And FYI... Your vet is an idiot...
Also, no more mealworms. They can cause impaction. Has he pooped?
I got a whole bunch of fake plants and vines from the dollar store, just wash them with soap and water first to get the extra dye off. They are super cheap too
Mine are breeding great. I use a glass tank with screen lid. Petroleum jelly around the top 4 inches of the tank, egg cartons, an under tank heat pad, and veggie scraps.
Sorry you lost her :( maybe next time try with an older one? I find they are a little less fragile, I am afraid to ever get a baby because I am afraid I would kill it  also it could have been the baytril that did her in, it is bad if overdosed and reptiles have such slow immune systems you...
Also, make sure you give PLAIN calcium every feeding, no phosphorus or D3. You will need to take (him) outside for natural sunlight when it is warm enough, but not too hot. Also give calcium WITH D3 2 times a month and a multivitamin 2 times a month for now until (he) is healthy again.
What...
Yes get a clear picture of the heal on the back foot to clarify if the situation is more or less severe. If it's a female this will not be a good situation, if male it could have a much higher chance of living a healthy normal life.
