Don't knock yourself to hard. It sounds like she already had a pre-existing condition before you took care of her. This.

    Screen Tank Or Chameleon First?

I would leave it in the wild where it's lived its entire life.

Cage, lights, fake plants/vines, and more! (NC)

No my little guy didn't die! His permanent new cage and supplies arrived! :) So I'm selling the old left over stuff. What I've got: - 30" high, 27 1/2" deep, and 17" wide cage. Is easy to setup and features a fabric mesh screen with zippers on the top and bottom. I liked the material it...

    How do chameleons drink water?

The rescue I had was never misted or sprayed in anyway and only had a water bowl. He lived like this for 4 months so apparently they do drink from bowls. Otherwise there is no way a cham would survive 4 months straight without water.

    Fabric mesh cage? Heat lamp?

So I snagged an old chameleon setup off CL last night. It's a 18W x 24D x 36H cage. It has a black tubing frame that easy pushes together. BUT it has a soft black fabric mesh covering. There are zipper doors on the top and bottom. My question is, can you use a heat lamp with this...

Has anyone had luck with a DIY misting system?

$99 + accessories is pretty expensive. Has anyone had lucky making their own misting system?

    My zoo

Any additional pics of your turtle setup? Judging by that one picture it is no where near what you should have. General rule of thumb for a turtle is 10 gallons of water for every inch of shell. Also for the filter it should be rated for twice the amount of water you have. Last small gravel...

    How does my rescue look???

Please excuse the large photos. Tried to sneak up on him while he was eating. All of his limbs aside from looking skinny are straight without any curves or bulges from what I can see. He has great grip as well. Little back story on him. His temp cage.

Well it begins. New owner + rescue.

So I went out yesterday after work and got another fake plant, stuff for a DIY dripper, and more branches. Here's a pic my wife sent me from a few minutes ago. Seems he's quite content:

mist system vs. cool air humidifier

They do make humidity monitors/controllers that work just like a day/night switch. This is one very expensive one but just an example: http://zoomed.com/db/products/EntryDetail.php?EntryID=260&DatabaseID=2&SearchID=5

    My temporary/emergency cage. Input?

Ok I searched around on MBD. Looks like a severe lack of calcium/UVB causes the bones to go soft or break easily? The pictures I saw were of very bad looking limbs. He's good in that regards or at least everything is straight, no swelling, or anything like that.

    Looking for a misting system...

Twig, I ran a quick google search and found this. Kind of a neat idea! --------------------- What you'll need 1 aquarium air pump (witch 99% of us have laying around lol) some 1/4" tubing 1 bottle of purified water 1 drill with same sized drill bit 1/4 inch for tubing a couple...

    My temporary/emergency cage. Input?

I wish I could find this stuff with smaller holes. I think with this you'd always have to hand/cup feed or the crickets would possibly escape. They have 36" tall stuff as well.

    My temporary/emergency cage. Input?

Yes I will absolutely get some pics of him up when I get home from work. I'm not sure what MBD but considering he's never had a real light, cage, etc... it's a high possibility. Also that light is just a heat/UVA. I pulled my UVB light from one of my turtle tanks to help him out today (those...

My Map turtle and his habitat.

Thanks! I hear you 100% I actually started out like that and quickly learned rights from wrongs. While I was working as a recruiter in Wisconsin I re-homed tons of sliders and painteds. I saw everything from plastic containers to buckets. One thing was to always make sure the new owner was...

Thanks! Here's my other two: 55G with two RES: 75G with a female painted: Oh and a bonus pic of one of my RES. This was 3 days after I rescued him from a Myrtle Beach street vendor! I think he was a tad bit larger than a quarter. :( He seemed to make quick use of his new...
