Foliage means leaves. You need lots of leaf coverage so he has a place to hide. If he feels exposed then that will stress him out. I'd ask when you call what is best in the mean time. Check the sponsor list for those that are based in California and you might be able to buy supplements from...
We don't mind answering questions, that's why we're here! The sponsers do know what they're doing so if you give them a call they'll be able to recommend the best product for you that's available in your region. I'm from the UK so the products I use may not be available to you. Alternatively you...
The pet store may not sell the calcium without d3 or the multivitamin so you might need to buy them online. Some keepers here use an all-in-one product called Repashy Calcium Plus that contains calcium, d3 and vitamins in low quantities. I have little experience with it but it might be something...
To post a picture you hit 'post reply' and then underneath the text box there is a 'Manage Attachments' box. From here you can select a picture to upload :)
I'm afraid the store has given you the wrong information regarding supplementation. He needs a calcium powder without d3 for every...
Hi Francis
They puff up when they are frightened/angry and sometimes when they bask to absorb more heat. Seeing as he is new it will take time for him to get used to you. You should post a picture of him so that someone can estimate his age, then we can make sure your basking temperature is...
Wooden vivariums are fine and are pretty common here in the uk. I would definitely recommend removing the top and adding mesh. This would increase ventilation and allow you to place lights outside the cage, eliminating the chance of a burn if they are raised above the mesh slightly.
If he's biting you then he is clearly stressed. He won't like being petted so I would avoid that. It's great to hear you have a dripper. Do you have a UV bulb? Also what is his basking spot temperature? You need a calcium powder without d3 for every feeding, a calcium with d3 for use on one...
Try hand feeding him first to gain his trust and make sure you give him time to settle in since he's new. I believe there's nothing wrong with handling every so often. Some chameleons will never get used to it, others might appear to want to come out of their cage. Generally speaking chameleons...
You've been given some excellent advice. Just to reinforce, if the dusting powder doesn't tell you what is in it I would suggest throwing it out and buying more. You need calcium without D3 at every feeding, calcium with D3 on one feeder every two weeks and a multivitamin on one feeder every two...
I have no issues waiting if it's for the best. I'm just not sure how the Panacur ties in with the parasite's lifecycle. Presumably once the remaining eggs (left by the first dose) have hatched it is safe to move him, seeing as any worms will die outside of the host and any left inside will be...
UPDATE: I gave him the Panacur on Saturday and so far no increase in appetite but I guess it takes time to work/ get over the Panacur. I've stripped the cage to the essentials, poured boiling water over the remaining vines and washed everything with F10. He's to get another dose in two weeks...
Thanks for the help. Unfortunately he wouldn't eat anything today either but the prescription arrived and I can collect the Panacur tomorrow. Would F10SC be strong enough to sterilise his viv during treatment?
Thanks - I'm sure you're right :) So is it better to aim for the tongue itself or the back of the mouth? Tongue would be easier and minimise stress but I don't want to risk shooting too far and near the windpipe. I think he said it's about 0.25ml of liquid.
Thanks for letting me know. He...
Hi
My cham hasn't been eating properly for the past couple of weeks and it has slowly gotten worse to the point where he is only eating one feeder every two days. He was eating locusts and superworms so I got him some dubias and butterworms to see if that would help. He ate one butterworm but...
Here you go. I don't know what it was intended for, given the top, but he's only going to be in it for another month or so. I want to get him something a little bigger so there's more room to work with plants etc.. Maybe this...
The uvb is now shining through the screen at the side of the plastic (see pic). The light does reach him at his basking spot through the mesh from here but it's 8 inches away which isn't close enough. I have ordered him a branch so I can put it under the mesh meaning he can access the UV...
