To be honest Austin.Hopson, petstores does not give very proper information. I would advise you to just forget about everything he said and read caresheets and threads here on the forum instead. We get way too many threads about sick chams bought from petstores with corrupt husbandry information...
I wouldn't say 3 and a half is very old. Middle age yes. At the forums we have seen panther chameleons as old as 9. A generic lifespan of a healthy chameleon would last around 7 years
Welcome to the forums! I would recommend you give your new chameleon time to settle in. 1-2 weeks w/o handling would do just fine. Chameleons take their time to get used to things and need alot of space to do so. They aren't like our common pet mammals that enjoy being cuddled with I'm afraid...
Im sorry for my loose discription, I was on my mobile and still am but felt I had to answer the tread anyway even though my english isnt the best and I actually have a problem understanding how much of your post is pointed to me or to OP. Sorry for that mate. If you think Ive missed something...
Well then I can say youve overdosed her in D3. As I said it might be a factor. Calcium without D3 every feeding, calcuim with D3 two times a month the same as multivitamine two times a month.
Too much D3 will stop the body from picking up calcium which will weaken the bones in a MBD manner and...
Now I am no expert on emergency cases like this but how does your supplement schedule look? Does she get her calcium without D3, with D3 and vitamins? This could be a factor if she isnt getting the right amounts
And about the lighting. Trash the red light at night. She should have complete...
I would give him time to settle in. 1-2 weeks w/o handling. Chameleons need time to build their trust and therefore shouldnt be forced into anything like handling which is a major stress factor for the little creatures
Good luck!
Out of boredom my chameleon tried to eat them while the crew were out cleaning up after him. Silly sod. A small chameleon might go for one tho. They do after all share some similarities to dubia nymphs
Dont feed your chameleon wild isopods tho. They contain heavy metals which wont make any reptile or amphibian any good. If bred they are perfectly fine
Worms are a more candy like feeder, as mentioned earlier, roaches and crickets are the best base feeder since they don't contain as much fat and more proper nutrition to keep your cham healthy. My panther would sure wish to only eat super worms! Today I had to put a roach in his mouth while he...
