Lay down a good sized bead of hot glue and use a flat ice cream popsicle stick to push the glue into the mesh to contact the wood. Otherwise your glue will just harden on top of the mesh and then it's not fun taking it off
I agree. if you can only afford $50 on a cage, you should not be in this hobby. Its blunt but it is truthful and it is reality. I think we all can appreciate the enthusiasm and passion to get one but if your financial restriction is $50 it will not cover anything else associated to keeping a...
I am in the process of buying DIY window screen parts to make several enclosures and i've noticed some reputable breeders (Kammerflage being one of them) have been recommending 3 foot high enclosures. Whereas many others are recommending 4 foot high enclosures.
Footprint area remains the same...
Thought I would post my incubator set up with a Coleman cooler and inkbird itc1000.
Fan is for cooling if it gets too warm. Heat mat inside. Inkbird and secondary thermometer probe on top of the egg container.
Yesterday I placed the following into the container:
- 30 BSFL that were about 1/2" each and weighing in total 2 grams
- 30 dubia that were about 1/4 to 3/8" each and weighing in total 2 grams
This morning, there are no BSFL and 8 dubias left. :wideyed:
In summary, my 16 gram chameleon ate...
I would like to hear from people who do not specifically gut load their feeders and still have healthy chameleons that are alive after many years.
Do we know what minerals and or nutrients are we specifically gut loading for? At times I feel that we are gut loading without knowing what we are...
There are many options at dollar stores under stationary or utensil or drawer organizers.
Ikea also sells whole tray inserts that can be cut to give you multiple containers that are similar.
Of the approximate 12 roaches and 20 bsfl i had put in the container, there were 6 bsfl remaining at the end of the night.
It's incredible the amount of food this guys eating at 2.5 months old.
I'll do a more precise count tmrw. Not sure what caused the change in appetite though.
Okay so far the roaches are not climbing onto the stick as much as I want them to but some of them do climb up and are eaten fairly quickly thereafter. However I have noticed a significant increase in the chameleon's stalking and striking for the black fly larvae and the roaches walking around...
I notice my cham will strike and eat feeders when they are on sticks or leaves much faster than when the feeders are running around the bottom of a cup. So I thought about making a feeder cup where the roaches can climb up onto a branch and if it were to fall off it would fall back into the cup...
I am open to suggestions but please let me know why you don't believe/feel the tortoise food is "not good at all". There are no meat products in the ingredients and its an all grain/vegetarian product used by mostly zookeepers for their tortoises.
Regarding my torts, I only feed romaine every...
I'm looking to diy a bunch of enclosures and I am planning to use some sort of tray at the bottom to divert any water buildup. I have a plan on how to set this up but I'm just curious what do most DIYers use at the bottom?

Thank you all. I found this in my search through my down time and it looks very interesting for comparison. The chart is even sortable by clicking on the desired column.
My cham is 3 months. He's eating 1/4-3/8" BSFL, dubias and crickets. All three feeders are fed leftover tortoise food that my torts don't finish. So mostly greens and Mazuri Tortoise diet formulas 5M21 and 5E5L
Greens are mostly dandelions, grape leaves, and romaine lettuces sprayed with...
Been researching and I found this incubator that cools and heats.
https://www.incubators.org/gofridge.html
I was going to buy it but got the temp stabilized at 75.1 inside a cooler incubator in the basement as my region is experiencing a heat wave. I'm more concerned about cooling than...
