Hello there! Congrats on your new little one. I checked out your setup & could recommend a few things - take it or leave it, I'm no expert :)
I agree with the general consensus on more plants / cover. When you look in the cage, it should almost be hard to spot your chameleon, there's so much...
I don't think chameleons eat fruit, or even should. I'm not sure they can process sugar very well... maybe try collard greens, turnip greens or mustard greens instead.
"Alert old people", I love it. Also, excellent advice.
You really do have to charm your chameleon, earn their trust. Food is a great way to do that. Learn to interpret their body language & react accordingly so you don't trigger their stressors.
It always amazes me to see how quickly they grow in the first couple months ♡ you got a handsome little fella there - his eyes look nice & plump, he's got great color for a juvenile, his legs & casque look straight & strong (from what I can tell).
What insects do you feed him? It'll be...
I actually work in the organic food industry & am pretty familiar with the horrors of conventional farming - We always buy & support organic & non-GMO over conventional because we're not in favor of poisoning ourselves with pesticides, fungicides, herbicides & glyphosate. We don't feed...
Haha, right?! The things we do for these lil' guys  Speaking of which, we just ordered our Mistking starter kit & the universal heavy duty dragon strand drainage tray. Reeeeally looking forward to making those upgrades! This live plant has already helped so much keeping the humidity up...
Yeah, I guess I'll just continue to hand clean it off until we get our mister
He does use the hammock, yeah! We positioned one of his basking lamps over the top level. He'll flatten himself out & lean super hard, almost looks like he's laying down on it but is somehow still standing lol
Hmm, yeah - for sure. I didn't think of that... Thanks for pointing that out @kinyonga. He's been munching the baby leaves off the new plant we just introduced to his enclosure. We originally got him a pothos too, but found it had a mealybug infestation so we didn't use it. On the other hand...
Whoa, are you kidding me?! This is the list I was going off - https://flchams.com/chameleon-safe-plant-list/ - FL Chams led me to believe they were safe, what the heck. Buddha's been free-ranging in umbrella plants for months & often eats the leaves..:confused::confused: The link you...
Thank you @carol5208 - seriously we appreciate it! Yeah, we'll postpone the vet visit & save the hassle for the lil' guy. We'll keep doing our homework & see what more we can learn to better help our Buddha :)
Okay, follow up question on the live plants - how do people usually deal with the fact their chameleon is pooping on leaves they might turn around & munch on later? I've been cleaning his poops up everyday & spraying the soiled leaves with water until they appear clean :cautious: not sure how I...
Thanks for the heads up @CJ's Exotics. I've read a few forum posts about the potential dangers of feeding wild insects as well. It totally makes sense.. who knows what those things have been exposed to. We live just outside the Twin Cities in MN & there is farm land near by (I've seen them...
