My Yemen is doing the same thing. He's coming to be about a yr old now.
He's become A LOT more active over the last 5 days and his eating has dropped off completely. The apartment I'm in has rapidly dropped rapidly in temp tho due to winter showing Wales who's boss. So have put it down to that...
He's stopped doing it more recently, after I rearranged his viv and now he's lower away from the light. I'll keep an eye out for if he does it when it's cooler too tho.
Have been considering getting a lady friend for Marty as a little bit of company. I'm not looking to intentionally breed chams but if it happened it would probably be quite easy to sell the babies as ain't too many breeders around our areas.
How are chams with sharing the same space?
As he lets...
Hi all,
I've noticed Marty has been yawning recently.. Although this looks so cute is it normal behavior?
I've caught him a few times with his mouth held open while basking too. Is this maybe from temps being too high?
His viv temps are normal but surely where he basks is going to be over that.
Awesome. Good to hear.
I wasn't sure if I should just ignore the behavior and just carry on, or if every time he kicked off just place my hands closer as a kinda 'if you want to fight you can try but it ain't going to work' and 'a display of dominance ain't going to work with me sunshine.'
But...
If he's eating crickets then that's a good thing. I've been told feeding them too many worms can cause them to have digestion problems as the shell to flesh ratio ain't as great compared to food like crickets. I don't feed mine worms, just crickets which I occasionally dust with vits and...
Also as am very new is this the correct location for this thread?
Was hoping there was a directory for behavioral topics, as chams are 'complicated' creatures.
I have a couple more threads I want to post that's all and don't want to put the tread in the wrong place.
:)
Hi everyone,
Thank you for the quick responses.
The odd thing is, if I pull my sleeve over my hand he doesn't freak. He'll just do the normal blank look at my sleeve as there is something new in the viv.
He's let out the viv really often. Maybe 4-5times a week for a good 5-6hr stretch where he...
My local reptile store do a kinda 'babysitting' service. Where you can drop off your animal and they will look after them for a minimal fee. (You have to contact them first to see if they have the space tho, clearly)
Might be worth giving them a call and finding out if they have this?
Just...
Hi all,
I have a Male Yemen called Marty, had him from 16weeks and he's got progressively more territorial when ever anyone gets near him.
ESPECIALLY hands! He hates hands, tweezers, twigs he's fine with but wow, put your hand near him you'll know about it, hissing head butting and even biting...
Here in the uk if a load of locusts escaped, they'd die pretty quickly due to our rubbish climate. So that maybe our reptile stores can breed them. Might be worth asking at your local reptile store if there is a reason it's so difficult to get them. Chams love them, they're a lot more expensive...
Brown crickets for the win there. And they are nowhere as noisy as black crickets. Black crickets tho can be quite nasty and are nocturnal so can have a nibble on your Cham while asleep. Bigger and more likely to harm your Cham food I never leave in the viv. My Yemen will always do anything to...
