Please fill this out. It will help everyone be able to answer your question right.
Sorry about it being detailed and a lot. But details mean everything!
Chameleon Info:
Your Chameleon - The species, sex, and age of your chameleon. How long has it been in your care?
Handling - How often do...
You’ve only had him for a few days right?
Typically they will be fussy from the environment for anywhere from a few days to a few weeks after being introduced to it.
My boy was brown off and on for weeks after we got him.
But, just like @chameleonneeds said, I wouldn’t worry too much about...
He needs time to adjust. Most chameleons won’t eat a lot when they just got thrown into a new environment. Don’t worry so much about him not eating. Like most reptiles, they can go a long time without him eating. Just give him awhile to adjust.
Each chameleon is different and has their own attitude.
Your little guy is also in his teenage years so it’s normal for them to act like this.
But when it comes to getting them to trust you or, “tame” them, it just takes time. Over time, he will realize your hands and you give him food and are...
Yeah, vet is always what you wanna do.
But in the mean time, chameleons are prone to cysts. Not necessarily a big deal, but it is strange to find a cyst along the mouth. They are typically on the legs and back.
Whoever said crickets as a staple was bad was absolutely a liar. Any care sheet and any expert would pressssssss crickets.
If it’s for only a month, yeah. Probably not. But nonetheless, for future reference, non d3 is basically a daily necessity if you don’t want your cham getting MBD.
I switch my boy between a glass one and a repibreeze. Summer, he’s in reptibreeze. Winter, he’s in glass. It’s the only way to keep humidity in during the winter!
People bash glass a lot but I feel like if it’s build tall like an actual chameleon set up and has extra care taken to it to make...
Looks kinda like he may have cut or bruised himself on something.
When my cham had to get shots, the surrounding area under his belly looked like this.
Other than that, i don’t really know what this could be!
Chameleons are prone to clogged tear ducts. My boy just got over a crippling case of that.
If he doesn’t open it and stops moving the eye itself underneath the lid, try using a little saline on it.
Either way, take him to the vet no matter what if it continues.
Ok so first thing, don’t keep feeling him mealworms as a staple. He should be eating crickets as a staple. Mealworms exoskeleton is extremely hard for them to digest and the nutritional value of mealworms is nothing. That alone may be your problem.
Second thing, depending on how much your...
No prob! Sellers tend to be horrible about that recently.
The first 4-6 months are hard to age anyways. Thy usually hit a “growth spurt” between 5-7 where their adult colors start to set in and they actually start to grow in length and weight a lot quicker. Before that, they kinda just ease...
One, PICS???
Two, veileds are very prone to cysts on the legs and back. They aren’t that too big of a deal and a vet will take care of them very quickly, but you should see a vet nonetheless.
You can tell if a veiled cham is male or female by the spurs on the back of the feet. They are, indeed, born with these and don’t just grow there. That’s how they are sexed at birth.
At this age, colors mean little in sexing. Their adult colors haven’t even begun to set in yet.
Also, I’d...
As @jamest0o0 said, they can go long times without eating. Mine, when shedding, usually goes the whole shed and then days afterwards before he eats again. He may eat 1 or 2 crickets here and there or absolutely nothing at all.
Reptiles have different metabolisms, which makes it to where they...
Just like someone else mentioned, KY Jelly (or any water based lube) and Vaseline are something good to use.
I would go more towards water based things like Aquafor, gels, etc. Water based won’t clog anything and absorb way faster into the skin.
Not at all to scare you, but any feet problems I’ve seen with my friends who have chams were not good and need vet attention ASAP.
I wouldn’t be too concerned if the other foot wasn’t swollen as well.
Has he fallen at that you know of or had darkened colors for no apparent reason that may...
Many chameleons get fussy and do not eat when they are shedding. Plenty of times my little one has also slept all day. But because of your chams age, it concerns me why he would be sleeping all day.
Shrinking eyes is a sign of eye infection or clogged tear ducts. My boy, when we got him, had...
No offense or anything, but they have been helping with the weight of my underweight little guy and many other friends I have that have rescued sick chams.
At the same time, I do know the lack of value they have, which is why I go more towards wax worms than I do mealworms. I know I’m...
