Hi Bill B
Thank you for the mention!
The Jungle Dawn Mega LEDS are temporarily sold out until the next load arrives from the Factory in late Sept.
They took off like CrAzY!
They were so popular -- they sold out so fast!
They are even brighter than they look in this video!
Yes.
But you would also need a flo. light fixture with a proper UV bulb in it as well as a basking lamp. Although you could probably get by with a lower wattage basking lamp (say 25- 40 ish watts.)
No LED product can provide correct UVB to chams at this time... so you should have a decent UVB...
Thank you Kboz!
I developed the 40 w Jungle Dawn® to Kick Butt. ;)
It has taken me almost 5 years... and I was ready to quit a few times when some prototypes did not work out.
But persistence pays off. I think any one who uses these will agree.
:)
Some important things that make these stand...
It all depends on the size of the cage and how heavily it is planted.
If it is just a young cham in a small cage... just stick with the 5.0 Zoo Med or even better, a 6% Arcadia 18".
are you making fun of the exo-terra hoods screwed to the ceiling of the LYR warehouse? LOL
;)
Well, that's one thing they are good for !
Who needs to buy costly ceiling light fixtures when I have a surplus of those.
:)
ha ha.
Cheers. Todd
Hi Guys!
(Hi Mods,
I am not sure if it is ok to post a link to Bill Strand's interview he did with me about lighting or not....
But I thought I would post it to try and help get some *very important* lighting information out there to help educate folks with a deeper understanding of this...
Well... I am glad you asked.
:)
When you do your free range area--
take a look at the Arcadia 14% UVB bulbs. Now.... yes... they are strong.
Too strong on an average cage.
But if you have to project the UV in feet and not inches in a large free range area these would be perfect.
You can mount...
Addendum,
yes ...
and before people start going on about it...
there are LEDs that can produce UVB. They use them for curing lamps.
A "slice" of UVB spectrum in a light source is NOT the same as creating a proper full spectrum light with ALL the bands of UVB and UBA in the light that comes...
Yes, it is exciting to think at some point, there will be LED lights that can do UVB correctly.
But that still is a while off.
I have personally been working and experimenting with that.
And it is very challenging.
That's all I can say at the moment.
However, I do predict that some day...
Thank you folks for the nice feedback.
I am very proud of these.
And they really do represent allot of work and trial and error.
There were at least 5 designs over the past 5 years that went before hitting the nail ON THE HEAD with these bad boys.
It is a good example of "at first you don't...
Oh no. Just the opposite.
For 40 watts of electricity it is like you are getting almost 250 watts of what an incandescent light would produce at many times the amount of heat.
Jungle Dawn LED products grow plants amazingly well due to the the spectrum, intensity and mix of 4.5 and 6.5 kelvin...
A 34" (36") Arcadia HO T5 tube 6% in a single bulb fixture with a good reflector would provide enough UV in this set up.
Cheers!
