This is terrible advice. People who "tame" any reptile with this method aren't taming them at all - they're basically breaking them.

Just popped in to say that the "bowl" you keep your fish in is incredibly inadequate.
As fish go, goldfish are filthy. And active. Just because it's surviving doesn't mean it's thriving.
He needs way more climbing surfaces and cover. Half of his grumpiness probably has to do with him being so exposed in order to bask.
If you need to remove him, go from under, not over. Try to coax him onto you, or If need be, just remove the branch he's on all together.
