Veileds, especially, are very temperamental. He probably sees something else. It could even be that you unknowingly touched him somewhere and he didn't like it.
He looks beautiful! I think you might be letting a little too much sun into your cave! The walls are too bright and don't look very cave-like any more. You wouldn't want us to get the wrong impression, now, would you?;)
My personal thoughts is that it would be too salty if you used saltwater. You will burn the plants and accumulate salt creep on the surface of the soil. And that could be potentially harmful if ingested.
It depends on if there come things are chemical-based, or natural. I would stay away from those, as i think they are chemical. You want more natural things like compost or manure mixes. Things you would use if you wanted a fully organic crop from your garden.
I just recently set Emma up on a bioactive set up. I will post some information. (But for anyone who doesn't agree with my keeping methods, please keep your negative comments to yourself. I am an experienced keeper with many years of success keeping a multitude of reptiles.)

We all have much to learn, despite the fact that we (as chameleon keepers/breeders) have come so far since the 70s. Sometimes, it takes a daring person to try new things to learn more. I'm glad you will be setting up new cages for your girls. I think they will be happier. I would love to see...
And a 2x2x4 is extremely small for that species, let alone 4 of them! You need to separate them all, immediately. As someone already said, they are probably fighting and are no doubt stressing each other out! You WILL have deaths if you don't!
I would take him to the vet, just to be sure. It looks like probably a bruise, but that's a very bad and strange place. A d if that's dead tissue, you need to take care of it.
Pothos LOVE water! They will even establish roots from a cutting in simple tap water. I would goes there are roots exposed somewhere, or the plant is just really stressed. A couple times a year, they will yellow and drop lots of leaves, but it still shouldn't be wilted. Check the roots.
