How often should I mist my 2-3 month old veiled chameleon?

I think it's an interesting conversation. I think @Charlotte Louise has definitely done the research and the logic checks out. but it is against anything I've ever learned... anywhere. I tend to side with @jamest0o0 that in captivity, we cant perfectly replicate what happens in the wild (even...

    Veiled chameleon sex?

not eating should be monitored, but as said before its not the end of the world for short periods of time. like posted above it could be stress or any number of things and should hopefully even out. I agree that biggest areas of opportunity is the setup. mesh is better for ventilation, and for...

    First DIY enclosure

looks good though, makes me anxious to build mine, once little guy grows up a little more. let me know how much it ends up costing so I know how much I have to butter my wife up before telling her.

    First DIY enclosure

i think if anything, it would look better unpainted, most any cabinet in the world that you open you're more used to seeing the wood tones on the inside... then again if there's ever a leak in the drainage or if it gets too humid in there it could cause problems. but I'd say if you're going to...

    Hi, I’m New here!

breeder was pretty positive, but said he wasn't the most "well endowed" in terms of the spurs on his feet, this isn't the best pic but what do you think?

    Hi, I’m New here!

when do their colors start to show? think mine is like 2 1/2 mos but all I've seen is bright green and when hes getting all stealthy trying to hunt I see him get dark tiger stripe looking patterns, like on my profile pic.... hope mine gets half the coloring those guys have

    Petsmart problems

I think the best you could hope for is they stop carrying chams all together (which I wouldn't really consider a loss). but those stores are all about bottom line. you're never going to get them to care for animals more. never going to get them to pay decent wages for experts on each of the...

Help, My 4yo. Veiled Male Vomited???

not an expert on the mealworms, dont really use em. but in regards to the shedding higher humidity helps them shed so that may be a second reason for the mister.

    Help,is he okay??

I will say, same thing happened with my first. got him from petsmart and was sick from the get go. i dont think big box stores know/care enough to take care of chams. i hope you caught it early, and he pulls through. but I'd suggest a breeder if things go wrong or (hopefully) just want a second...

    Help,is he okay??

shouldn't be falling asleep during the day so i wouldn't consider that a good sign, moving lower also isn't usually good unless its just to poke around here and there, I would repost this in health forums and look into taking him to a vet

    Help please!! Chameleon vitamins!!

I agree with @leedragon that lighting could be an issue the uvb that comes with the zoo med tank has been said to irritate their eyes (although it has also been said to be corrected) . i think a linear tube would be better. could also be dehydration, their eyes will get sunken in if dehydrated...

    Does shedding mean growth?

younger chams shed more than mature ones do, which I'd guess has something to do with the fact that they're growing. but mature chameleons that aren't growing will still shed too. it's not necessarily like with shell fish that outgrow their shell, and have to shed it to allow them to grow.

    Hi, I’m New here!

looks like you have a nice setup, I'd just be monitoring the humidity/temp now, that way you know he'll be comfy when he moves in. only other thing I'd suggest is a uvb tube light. with those bulbs, only a small area is getting uvb so if hes hanging out in that back left corner of the first pic...

    Petsmart problems

my first cham was from petsmart, did not know a lot about them at that point. or I probably would've stayed away all together. was in an all acrylic tank with no ventilation, with a fogger going, looked like it was probably 90%+ humidity. his health declined every day after I bought him. i...

    seems stressed

no, he was hiding in the back corner as far away from the light as he could, behind some leaves. I pulled the light a little higher, and went back to having the uvb bulb next to the basking light, and hes been back to his normal self .... think it might have just been too much all at once.
