If he's looking healthy and has good urates there may not be anything to get worried about. I know my female xanth will go on the occasional week long food strike, generally around when she's going to shed. If you're worried try out a couple different feeders, mine sometimes does this when I...
Doesn't matter what sex, I just love those little guys and missed out getting them last summer. If anyone knows someone who has them please let me know!
Veterinary Medicine is not even close to a packed field unless you want to go zoo vet. If you have the means go back to school! Ages typically range from 20-50 in vet school so don't be worried about that either. And there is definitely a need for private exotic vets.
The conclusion on this product from our lab is that if you already have it no need to get rid of it. It's a pretty good water source but just physically cannot contain enough vitamins and minerals to use as a primary supplementation source. So might as well use it up if you have but it's way...
I would have to second the Mist King, it's great!
And I would say that you shouldn't be too shy about getting a jackson's first. My first, and definitely not last, chameleon was a Jackson's. The main thing I would suggest is to try to find a captive bred one. My girl had some issues in the...
Depending on what kind of chameleon you're wanting to weigh, Amazon has some pretty good ones that work well for smaller to medium chameleons for around $10-15
Absolutely, it would be much less energy spend vs catching a boar (I'd probably just hunt it with rocks). and a boar is great and all but the meat would definitely spoil in a day or two and soon be filled with bugs and such since you're on a deserted island with no refrigeration.
I don't know for sure. The breeder I bought her from was horrible in retrospect and didn't know for sure when I asked. That was back in November last year. She went to the vet (KSU vet school) about a month ago for a strange swelled spot on her spine and they estimated she was about 10 months...
Yeah they have teeth, my girl isn't aggressive but one time while hand feeding her she went in for the chomp instead of using her tongue :) Though while it wasn't the worst bite I imagine if she were actually trying to bite it wouldn't feel great!
Not gonna lie it's kinda nice to see that there are people on both sides of the xanth and jacksonii side. Yeah with the horn and the spikes I was never very sure. So the consensus is she's a xanth? Is there any defining way to tell or picture I could take?
Also hearing all the nice comments...
The first pic, when she's brown, was when I first got her. Probably not the first choice many would make for a cham but I'm glad I got her. Thanks to this forum over the last 6 months she's really improved and became extremely beautiful if I do say so myself :) I absolutely love the red bars...
