Cohabitation of a chameleon and a Phelsuma

I don't want to get into a discussion on existentialism. I had a friend who majored in philosophy and who I constantly egged on into (friendly) debate and would say something along the lines of "overthinking is good sometimes but it doesn't get anything done." Ask yourself this: If you had...

    Where can i

I think maybe you have seen a female panther. I'm not sure which locales are the most pink, but look in the breeding section of the forum and you will see some examples. The color changes to other colors depending on the mood and temperature.

    Silkworm Science Fair

I like the orange silk idea. what if you dyed the oranges red or black (plant them in dyed water) and got them to spin other colors? If you hurry it would look super cool for halloween. :p

Cohabitation of a chameleon and a Phelsuma

... continued Lab tests are for a purpose, a benefit. Exportation is sometimes justified by the fact that deforestation on Madagascar could result in extinction of one or several species of chameleons. Exported chameleons can be used to repopulate these areas. It's odd how you keep...

Cohabitation of a chameleon and a Phelsuma

Please note my primary focus here, if you go back this is paraphrasing your argument. You can not go from thought A, and say that B is necessarily ethical. You have still not explained any benefit to this "experiment".

Cohabitation of a chameleon and a Phelsuma

The potential for stress is there. What would actually happen is unknown. I don't have a problem with showing animals to each other and seeing how they react, but placing two animals in a cage together to spend time together unsupervised can be irresponsible. The only reason I wanted...

Cohabitation of a chameleon and a Phelsuma

So everyone has an opinion and we can all just share and no one is right and no one is wrong? That is the kind of thinking that is the antithesis of science. The issue of animal cruelty in the name of research is exactly the purpose of this post. You argued that this was an experiment...

Cohabitation of a chameleon and a Phelsuma

So you are ignoring warnings and sticking with your first assertion that if others were able to cohabitate the gecko and the chameleon, that it is a much safer "experiment". I'm still not agreeing with your logic.

Cohabitation of a chameleon and a Phelsuma

I'm sorry I should have said "I can ALMOST see how you got from point A to point B." Point A:"we (humans) risked and caused harm/suffering when importing panthers" Point B: "it is okay risk further risk/harm/suffering to try cohabitation" Because it's a bit of a slippery slope...

Cohabitation of a chameleon and a Phelsuma

Wow What it comes down to is that animals are animals. We don't always know for sure what they are thinking, what they will do, or what their motivations are. My pit bull is the sweetest dog you'll ever meet, and he can eat from his bowl of food whenever he pleases, but I'm not going...

Cohabitation of a chameleon and a Phelsuma

This has been an interesting thread. There are moral issues at play, and I can see how your logic made this connection from the idea of: "we (humans) risked and caused harm/suffering when importing panthers" to "it is okay risk further risk/harm/suffering to try cohabitation" I...

trying to possibly find out what colors my baby panther may have.

That's a lot of blue, or maybe it's just a reflection... I have no idea. Where did you get him? The breeder didn't offer you any information? Was it a pet store? They should have it written down somewhere, maybe you could call.

    Hello from Texas!

Welcome! I've found this forum to be very informative and helpful. There are many experienced people here who are often nice enough to help out the new people with questions (like me). What kind of chameleon are you planning on?
