I noticed some ants in the enclosure, and it seemed like it was coming from my living wall. So I took the whole enclosure outside and hosed it out. That took care of all of the ants in the enclosure, so I put it all back together. An hour later, I see ants marching on the top of the cage...
Cosmic is a panther, so a more sociable breed. For him, I used a tree. I picked up a tree at Home Depot, and put it right in front of his enclosure with the door open so he could climb onto it from inside his enclosure. I’d check on him every few minutes, and eventually he’d be on the tree...
For the carbon and micron filters, change them when the appear dirty (I let mine get pretty dirty). The membrane is the one that you use TDS to determine it's health.
IMO under 5 is fine for almost anything you can think of.
Reefkeeping and labwork require 0.
I’ve heard it argued that 0 TDS RO/DI can strip nutrients out of whatever is drinking it. So I removed my DI.
But, you’ll be replacing the filters soon. Buy them for when it rises a couple more...
But, humans cannot hydrate by breathing. I'm wondering if Chameleons can. If they cannot, then somehow they need to drink more then the exhale. I understand that you lose less water through nose breathing, but you still lose a lot. And since they are moving (read alive), it means they are...
I've been thinking about something for a while. Before I come right out with it, I want to say that attempting to replicate a species natural environment is the best for of husbandry. But, perhaps, there is something better.
This first popped into my mind when listening to a Breeder Podcast...
I'm wondering the same exact thing. Is there some mechanism in their lungs preventing them from exhaling hydration? Im limited in my reptile biology knowledge, but I belive this would be unique. Amphibians can get hydration through their skin. I wonder if there isn't some yet to be...
Just under 5 months, but he appears to be growing faster then usual. Another member here thought he was a lot older then that, but I confirmed with the breeder. So he's a large 5 month old.
I was giving Cosmic 1/2" crickets and he was eating a ton. I'd say about 15-20 per day. He had also been growing like crazy.
Because he grew, I started using 3/4" crickets. He's dropped to about 8-10 a day. Is this about correct? I know by weight, he's getting about the same amount, but...
The galaxy and VdB 152 are natural colors.
The nebulae are false color narrowband. So I take a small slice of the light coming in and assign it to a color. This lets astronomers visualize structure where theres a lot of light obscuring it.
My other hobby is astrophotography. Hope you guys enjoy! If you're curious about something, ask. All of the images were taken by me within 30 miles of my house.
