I'm glad she is doing well. She should be perfectly fine and experience no pain from missing a tail since it is healed. Many people have had chams missing a tail.
What are you doing for misting/watering? In that last pic she looks slightly dehydrated (sunken eyes) but in the original pics...
Based on the info provided, the main things I would change is to raise the basking temp to 90-95F and keep ambient temps in the 75-80 range, and dust with PLAIN calcium (NO D3) every feeding, calcium with D3 twice a month, and multivitamin twice a month. Also, do you turn all the lights out at...
Congratulations on your new chameleon! I agree with Lovereps' advice. You will want to make sure your UVB bulb is less than 6 months old, and it is best if it is either a ReptiSun 5.0 or an Arcadia 6%. Plants actually do not use UV, photosynthesis occurs using the visible light spectrum, so it...
As long as there is no lid and she has enough light and the temperature is reasonable (at least in the 70's) she should be OK but she would need complete privacy.
It is probably too small. You can fill a garbage can with 12 inches of sand/soil and put her in that for a while. But it is important you give her complete privacy.
It is possible she may lay in the smaller container but she may not and she has to be able to lay soon to avoid egg-binding.
I think the guy at Home Depot was thinking of very old fluorescent fixtures with a magnetic ballast and a manual start (you have to hold a button in to start the bulb). This would obviously not work with a timer.
You should always be using a newer fixture with an electronic ballast with UVB...
I agree, it looks like a female. I can't see spurs on the back feet, casque is small, and coloration looks female in the second pic.
Females lay eggs whether mated or not. I would recommend setting up a laying bin. See the below video...
Hopefully your chameleon is just in shock and is able to recover. Usually they can withstand falls very well. Sorry this had to happen and I wish you the best.
Ficus is a good plant, but you will want a lot of light for it. Do you have 6500k fluorescent bulbs? If you want lower light plants schefflera and pothos are good. Pothos in particular is pretty bullet proof and seems to survive almost anything.
I just re-pot live plants and wash them down...
He is definitely a very healthy good looking veiled. I like his contrast as well, I haven't seen many with such pronounced barring.
Thankfully it looks like any dehydration is minimal, since there are no external signs of it on him.
It would definitely be best to get him in a 24x24x48 or...
Welcome to the forums! I am glad you were able to rescue your chameleon.
Could you post pictures of him and his enclosure and fill out the help form? This will allow people to better help you and find any potential issues.
To answer your questions, a planted enclosure can be done but the...
Their eyes can sink in for any serious issue, not just dehydration, so it is probably something else if she is getting enough water. Opening mouth can also be a sign of various health problems, it doesn't look like RI in this case since there doesn't seem to be lots of mucous.
I honestly am...
I use raindomes for both humidity and drinking water. They do put out a certain amount of mist as well as droplets. However, you can use any combination of the two that lets you provide adequate water and humidity.
Veileds have lower humidity requirements, so I wouldn't be worried as long...
Nice, that's a lot of chams in one room. Do you have five total now? Whats in the small tank in the closet? I like the fudge stripes, those are awesome :)
Welcome to the forums!
You can keep a baby in an adult's cage as long as you are sure he is eating and knows how to get his food. You can train him to use the cup by showing it to him and letting insects crawl out. You can keep the cup somewhere where he will see it a lot, such as where he...
A linear bulb is optimal, but a good CFL can do the job as well. If you do use a CFL, I would make sure it is a ReptiSun 5.0 26w. it is even more important to have a good basking spot about 5-7" under the CFL since the distribution is smaller.
A 6500k (daylight) bulb is best for plants, and...
As posted in your other thread (maybe a moderator can combine these?):
I don't see obvious signs of MBD, but in that second picture it looks like the back half of his body starting around his hind legs is slightly darker. Not sure if that is a fluke of the lighting.
Do you know what...

Do you know what caused his injury? Staying and sleeping on the bottom like that is definitely...
It does look somewhat orange, but there is also white and he does not look dehydrated in the picture. So I am guessing it is very mild dehydration. The hornworms are definitely an easy quick fix for the time being.
Schefflera (umbrella tree) and pothos are the two easiest plants to use as...
Welcome to the forums! An injury wouldn't cause MBD by itself, it would only cause it if it prevented him from eating and basking properly.
Can you post pictures of him and fill out the full help form?
