My veiled chameleon just fell from the top of her cage. Appx. 5 feet on to the carpeting. She is now laying in a bed of moist moss, eyes opening very little and her mouth is open. You can hear her breathing. HELP!!!!!

Firstly, I would remove the moss especially for a veiled! Next, try touching them really softly and see if they react (if so, they may be hurt). I would also monitor them and if they stay the same, a vet is your best option

Just to be safe I agree to remove substate since her mouth is open. Replace with a towel. Post a pic if you can. How does her breathing sound? Im not saying she is fine but its better that she landed on carpet. My panther once landed on hardwood floor from 4ft., he was stunned for a while but fine in about 15 min (i was freaking!!) Luckily when they know they are falling, they will puff up to help protect themselves from injury. Keep us updated and see a vet asap if she doesn't start showing normal signs. Not trying tos care you but, Your saying you can hear her breathe? I would almost bet that there could be a collapsed lung or something with the ribs poking the lungs and so you can hear her having trouble breathing. She doesn't look like she has very much time from the way she looks I would move her into a towel or blanket on her stomache and try to give her water

Her tongue is sticking out, she extends her mouth occasionally. I don't think there is much I can do at this point.

Thank you everyone, I don't think there is much I can do for her except trying to keep her comfortable.
I agree. Allow her to rest without disturbing her. Make sure she is safe and not getting cold (that moss looks wet) and let her get over the shock. Sometimes messing with them too much is more harm than good. If she is going to make it then reassess in the morning. Just know there is a risk that she may pass away over night. But I wouldn't do anything with her right now except let her rest.
