Can I assume that a chameleon that has been on antibiotics for one thang may no longer carry salmonella if there was any?
After administering Fortaz for two weeks, will I need to administer a second round in a month to fulfill the successful obliteration of a URI? And if so, at what...
While there are around 2,235 variations of salmonella statistics have shown that only 36% of lizards actually carry salmonella. Seems to me that percentage would be in the wild more than the Captive bred. But still no reason to forego precautionary habits.
In the summer time, it is warm enough for me to let the lights go off before the sun sets. 7pm (with sunlight filtering in his cage through an open window. (or closed if there is a chill wind)
He goes to his sleeping place according to the sun, making the slight daily time change adjustments...
I would choose either a fig tree or an apple tree that I would keep dwarfed. Fuji, I think. lol I'm not sure the walnut tree is a good idea. Acidic, I thought. What's wrong with getting a giant shefflera? That's what I replaced my avocado tree with and they LOVE it... Can't keep their clampers...
I've been using Repashy's crested gecko MRP on my chameleon. I looked at the ingredients of the stuff the vet gives you for reptiles and Repashy's MRP compared as a much better product. So I began using it with incredible results after only one month. The only thing I believe that I have noticed...
I use waxwroms, freshly fed on bee pollen for just that... a form of natural medicine. I coat them in vitamines and let my guys have their "ice cream." when they seem down or stressed by weather changes.
I have had my Xantholophus' (Jackson subs) for two years now and the first thing Triggs does when we go outside is go to the ground. He used his horns sometimes to dig under rock, looking for insects. I think it might be part of his nature, as I have heard of wilds doing the same thing. Might...
While my veiled and my Jacksons, at separate times, ventured onto and hung out on the Avocado tree in my window, I knew it could be trouble if one were to take a bite of the leaves. That is why I removed it. What they like about it, a big schefflera can provide.
I use a small blue glass to feed phoenix worms to my chams. They can see the "white wiggles" really good in it and they can't crawl out. I put about 8 to 10 mediums in there and in 3 tongue swipes, they are gone. I do lighty dust them as well. Have fun feeding! :D
I wouldn't do it. I don't feed mealworms at all. I use the small size superworm which is a different species. The skin is thinner and not so tough on the liver, kindneys and such. I still crush the heads with pliers though. But mostly I stay with the crickets because of better food content for...
lol It's a kind of teriyaki scented sticky flavoring I got from my vet with liquid vitamins in it to flavor my MRP which as you all know is excorcist green and has the texture of grit in goo.
The MRP formula that is used for Crested Geckos has Spirolina in it. I have been using it on my veiled. He's been very active on it. I've added a meat flavoring with liquid vits now too. He has quite taken to being hand fed this MRP mix.
High protein treat.. i slip them into my veiled's mouth and they are chewy, so he likes them. Might be small, but they are mighty.
Crickets and roaches are your staple feeders. The worms are good, but a cham should not live on worms alone.
If I were to pick two worms it would be the phoenix...
All my life, I have loved the bufo boreas toad. I loved the push ups the fence lizards did. So when I got old enough, I had an assortment of desert lizard species. Iguanas too. I moved to England after my cat died for a few years and had huge birds. Back to California, I had nothing. Everything...
Betadine is a surgical scrub. It kills bacteria/germs in the area for only 15 minutes. How long has the sore been there? Polysporin would be a better idea. You could first clean it with the betadine, have it completely dry before applying the polysporin. If the sore gets worse, might need some...
