Thank you both!! I set up the baby bin about a week ago, as I was seeing some strange movement with the eggs. I will get pics eventually, but these are my first Cham eggs so I'm kind of scared I'll disturb their process.
Oh.. and I expected tiny, but they are really TINY!! One little pink...
Babies are PIPPING!!!!!!
I just did a routine peek into the inc'y box and 7 of 9 eggs are pipping and I saw one baby's eye respond to my little light. Even my non-herpy hubby is excited!!
Sela lives on!! Yey! :D
Well.. the eggs are even bigger than when I first posted this thread, so I'm thinking they might be close. Who knows!
I did notice that one egg is slightly turned in the substrate.. I mean, the tips were east/west and now they are slightly northeast/southwest. I didn't touch them, btw. Maybe...
I use the Bug Burger along with the Cricket Crack (as well as, fresh fruits and veggies, of course!). Call me crazy, but I don't like to eat the same thing day after day after day.. healthy or not. ;)
All my feeder bugs like them both! :)
@heartben.. I've had all the things necessary for the bin, since the day after she laid the eggs. It took me awhile to stop peeking in the incubator everyday ..and just look once a week or so.
I'm using baby bins like jannb used for her babies.
So.. Sela's eggs are 29 weeks into incubation and they look ready to explode any day now. However, I don't see any sweating yet. Anyway.. just wondering when I should start assembling the baby bin? I don't want to jinx anything! :o
For the veteran breeders.. do you set it up after you see the...
I have been eyeballing 2 leftover sheets of coroplast for the last week, wondering how I could make them work for Babu's free range. I'm so glad this thread popped back up, Kevin!
I still need to get the pic of under my bathroom sink. I haven't forgot. I'm just a scatter brain when I'm busy...
One thing to keep in mind when frequenting the forum.. this one or any other.. is that just because a person is new to that particular forum, they may not be new to reptiles.. chameleons.. specific species of chameleons.. or forums, in general.
I've only been here a few months and I've seen...
I've had ants come in and demolish feeder bins AND gecko collections. They are beasts to contend with, for sure.
eriksorg gave the most effective deterrent .. a moat of sorts.
Sprinkling tansy (an herb you can find at natural grocery stores, usually) around the enclosures and wherever they...
That's a very cool video! I thought there was something wrong when I first saw this behaviour, as well.
Now, I am hand misting Babu, at least, once a day ...of his many misting sessions.. so I can observe him cleaning and drinking. Even my non herpy husband watches the big boy!
I have the same issue with the Scheffleras, but not the other acceptable plants. I think it may have something to do with the drainage, so I plan to try again and add even more sand to the customized soil mix.
Maybe it was a typo, but the chitin level in hornworms should be NILL. They are super soft bodied worms.
@splinter.. Silkworm eggs can be kept in your freezer. You take out the amount you want to hatch out, producing silkworms, and leave the remainder in the freezer until you want to use...
There is nothing like a Komodo Dragon! Awesome creatures!!
You could get a close relative and go with an Asian Water Monitor. Almost as big, very smart, carnivorous, etc. :)
I'm wondering if any of the veteran's here.. especially, if you have Melleri yourself... have the ADCHAM gutload list/recipe. If so, would you mind emailing or inboxing me, here? (I have a copy of Kristina's gutload and will be making that, as well. Thanks, Kristina!)
I am currently using...
