I also agree that one-two times a day is not sufficient enough. Do you atleast have a dripper going for a couple hours in the morning? Also what kind of cage do you have and how big? That will give me a better idea of how big of an area you are hydrating.
I just bought one from Home Depot for 10 bucks and it was 3 ft tall! I would shop around b/c 10 bucks for one that is only a foot IS expensive.
Also make sure that you clean the leaves really well and maybe think about repoting it before you put it in the cage with your chameleon. You want to...
I am going to first of all suggest that you take her to the vet. If she hasn't
eaten in 2 weeks! That is pretty serious. I am also going to give you a few pointers below on your husbandry to help her.
Again I really want to stress the importance if getting her to a vet if she hasn't eaten...
Well there are tons of threads on here that will tell you how to cup feed.. I personally like to let the food free range in the cage (unless its Dubias) because this allows for the chameleon to naturally hunt and giving them the exercise they need....
I have never heard of someone using reptiworms as a staple. Most people on here will tell you that you need to use Crickets/Dubias and you still will have to supplement with calcium (w/no D3) everyday, Calcium w/D3 and Reptivit every other weekend. (Atleast twice a month). The superworms can...
I have been wondering how people get their eggs so clean after they are dug up from a laying bin? Every picture I see the eggs are fairly clean when in whatever substrate is being used.... perlite or hatchrite, vermiculite ect. Can you clean the eggs off with water? I am always to afraid to...
I personally have never used reptiworms. A couple other things you can use as treat's are silkworms, hornworms, super worms (very sparingly b/c they can cause impaction), butterworms. Always use crickets/dubia for the staple food and make sure that you are gutloading your staple food. :)
Hornworms are extremely hydrating causing the runny poops. I wouldn't worry about it unless you stop the worms and only feed dubia/crickets and it still persists.
I wonder if it was possible that your UVB lights were some of the ones that you hear about people getting that are duds. A couple years ago, I had a female panther that out of now where started falling and grabbing her limbs as well. I had been supplementing her just like I was my male who was...
I personally have stuck with the fluorescent just b/c I know they are safe. I have seen the arguments but I don't think that the CFL pose any threat now. I think they would be safe to use. I don't know the comparison in price but I know that the domes are super cheap and easy to find... Not so...
Maybe try switching to an umbrella plant. They are around 10 bucks are home depot and do really well without the 6500k light but they do REALLY well with it. They are sold really tall too so once cleaned and repotted you can through them right in the cage and you don't have to wait for them to...
No, it doesn't count for UVB. You still need the reptisun 5.0 and also a basking light (I just use a dome and a 60watt housebulb) So the 6500k makes it 3 different lights. Yes ficus is fine. Also want to add that you will need to either use vine or branches all over. If you use branches from...
We use umbrella plants from Lowes/Homedepot.. They are about 10 bucks and good for adult panther cages because they are tall. they also have smaller ones for smaller cages. Just make sure that you clean it really well and replant it in just plain soil with no fertilizer/perlite in it.. Also...
You can't tell when eggs are going to hatch... You just have to be patient. The crackle effect on the eggs means they are growing so that is a good sign. Have they started to sweat at all?
Maybe try dubia roaches. If that doesn't work than I would research into what worm is best as staple. I believe it is a silkworm. Hornworms are really good for hydration. Butter worms are extremely high in fat and super worms can give problems with impaction because if the hard shell. Hope this...
You may have heard about soaking a chameleon in sugar water if they have a prolapse around their vent/rectum. That is not the problem here so it will not help the situation. Sorry.... Try getting a dripper going for him and fill it every morning around the same time so that it drips for the same...
