How to catch House flys for food.

Your best bet would be to catch wild flies, let them lay eggs, get rid of the wild flies before the eggs hatch, let the eggs hatch, start a culture. I don't think there are any parasites that would pass through eggs. I wouldn't use fish guts. There has to be something better.... Sounds like a...

Can i feed my cham this?

I would worry about parasites.... The microbiological world is a frightening place.

    Is this feeder okay??

How do you find out whether or not your area is chemical/ pesticide free? Bugs can cover a surprisingly large range....

    Is this feeder okay??

It's probably safe to say that you should never feed your cham. bugs that you 'found' ;]

    Bleach overdose?!

Bleach! Anyone used it for cleaning around your chams. home? Is it safe to use in the 10% mixture? The first thing Gratch does when he wakes up every morning is run to the bottom of his cage to snack on schefflera- would hate to get any on the leaves. I regularly spot clean so I doubt...

    Defiling a chameleons dead corpse?

So I just had a very strange thought while looking at pictures of my chameleon.... Does anyone have a fully intact chameleon skeleton? When my chameleon eventually passes on I'll cremate him, but a full chameleon skeleton- prepared professionally- on display in my front room would be pretty...

0% Humidity + high desert sun = terrible skin?

Ah, cool, good to know! Humidity isn't 0% here, but it's pretty darn close. Generally it's anywhere from 10%-37%. Sometimes it will rain, literally out of nowhere, and it evaporates almost instantly bumping humidity to 90% for the day.

0% Humidity + high desert sun = terrible skin?

Might have a solution.... We have a large outdoor patio misting system hidden away somewhere in our shop like this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bgAHeOkchIU I could set it up around the patio, and it would probably be more than enough to raise relative humidity.

0% Humidity + high desert sun = terrible skin?

I live over in Idaho. Do you think the arid air could harm his lungs? I figured since they are lizards after all he's probably just fine.... I mist him enough, I think.

0% Humidity + high desert sun = terrible skin?

Hello again~ Lately I've been worrying about Gratchs skin a bit.... Where I live we have very long, relatively warm (low 90s), and absolutely dry summers. You mention humidity here, and everyone will give you a questioning look. Generally when I free range Gratch, outside, I put him in...

At what point can I stop worrying?

Hey guys, I hope everyone is having a good day. Was wondering when I can stop worrying about my veiled? He seems to be doing absolutely wonderful- he's very, very active, he's gained amazing weight in the last few days, he loves to eat bugs, he loves nibbling schefflera, pothos, I watch him...

Training a cham. to eat from a bowl?

Thought I would check back with a little update for future readers. I've been pinching my crickets legs with my fingernail at the joint, and they pop right off. I give em a bit of a dusting, toss em in a very, very shallow cup, set them down somewhere, and they're gone in an hour or two.

    Handling

I've had my veiled for about a week now, and I have handled him every day once a day.... Not a long time, but my little Gratch warmed up to me pretty quickly. I have quite a bit of foliage that he can latch on to too. Generally I put my free range tree, and anything else I need- mister...

Training a cham. to eat from a bowl?

That's the main reason why I want him to feed from something that crickets would have an extremely hard time getting out of. I have enough time to give the cage a thorough search every night, but odds are high I would miss one or two ; ;....

Training a cham. to eat from a bowl?

It's a washed out cashew container- looks just a little bit like this, but it's clear and the mouth is a whole hell of a lot bigger: http://product-image.tradeindia.com/00356790/b/3/Plastic-Container-For-Food-Supplement.jpg I know he's seen the crickets inside before, but I guess he's probably...
