You could always buy a piece of screen thats a tad larger than your base and plop your cage on top of it, then cut the excess screen off from the sides. I think you'll want to keep the white platform removable so you can clean it? The water will still be able to flow over the screen that way...
Hi! The cup may be a bit too deep, he won't starve himself as long as he has access to the cup. I would suggest putting a vine in, not touching the bottom though so the feeders can't climb out. Where the cup is placed is the right way to go. Even a small bird ladder into the cup may work.
