I could be wrong here, because I don't use Nutrobal, but isn't that 150 iu per gram? I.e 150,000 iu per kg or 68,027 iu per lb. I remember reading the label a while back and thinking it was misleading.
Update: Vet says she believes it was a stress response and not to worry about it unless he shows the symptoms whilst resting. I've to finish his treatment as planned and monitor him closely :)
Thanks everyone for the replies. It just really took me by surprise when he started popping again so I wondered what people thought.
Lovereps - I completely agree and will call when they open tomorrow. Hopefully it's just a simple case of changing something :)
Jann - Thanks for the info...
Hi. My cham was showing signs of a respiratory infection such as popping and excess saliva so I took him to the vet. She concluded that it was likely a respiratory infection and prescribed 0.03ml 2.5% Baytril to be given daily for 14 days. That was 10 days ago and he has improved. However, I...
Hello and welcome
Like you said, there's absolutely nothing wrong with glass, assuming it's not an aquarium. Some of the most experienced members of this forum have used glass vivariums for years. You might also consider wooden vivariums. I prefer wooden because you can have them made to...
Welcome! Great to have another Scot on here, there aren't many of us. Screen cages are much less common here than they are in the US, but many people still use them with success. I'm not a big fan of glass vivariums because they are size limited and expensive. My preference would be wooden...
The definitions of words will quite often change, that doesn't mean the new definitions are wrong, assuming they are changed in dictionaries. Anyways, I think we will have to agree to disagree on this one :)
My understanding is that terrarium was originally used exclusively for plant enclosures but can now be used for land animal enclosures too. Exo Terra describe their enclosures as terrariums http://www.exo-terra.com/en/products/terrariums.php
Vivarium literally translates to "place of life". It is a broad term given to an area for raising animals and plants. A terrarium is a type of vivarium more specifically for land animals/plants (terr = land) though I've often heard people in the reptile keeping world using terrarium to describe...
It would really help if you could fill out the how to ask for help form and maybe post a picture of your setup/chameleon :) Why did you think that temperature was the reason he wasn't eating before? There's a tonne of possible reasons that he might not be eating and it's possible this is just...
Very welcome :) I agree there's a lot of uncertainty surrounding d3 content per product and how much d3 is too much which is why the all in one might work well for most people. I've actually been considering switching myself to give it a try.
I read it on this blog: http://muchadoaboutchameleons.blogspot.co.uk/2012/03/chameleon-physiology-supplements.html?m=1
Please do correct me if I've misinterpreted, it just seems many keepers have reported these symptoms after overdosing with d3
I didn't actually say his chameleon has mbd. I said that the excess d3 could be the reason for the mbd like symptoms, which was how the OP described them. The excess d3 could be why he is appearing weak and falling from branches.
Butterworms are great. My cham will only eat them if I offer them first thing. I think they're quite difficult to gutload so I've always just kept them in the fridge :D
Hi Chris
I'm sorry you're having these problems. You should be giving your chameleon a calcium without D3 powder at every feeding. The calcium with D3 should only be used once every two weeks along with a multivitamin. Here's a care sheet...
How did you get on? Just to add, I looked in to the Repashy Calcium Plus and found many contradicting opinions. It does contain a lot of vitamin D3 and A so anyone thinking of using it daily should proceed with caution
