Hi everyone. Owned my Jacksons chameleon for around 2 years now. He's in great shape apart from a bit of a wonky horn which just adds to his character. Anyway about 4 months ago I bought him a girlfriend from the north west (I'm in England). The breeder had large outdoor heated glass house in...
A store I regularly use has a carpet chameleon with a "deformed" foot. It was caused by a black cricket who had been nibbling it on a night time while it slept. This is in the UK however, not sure which feeders your US store uses but could be a possibility
Hi people. Recently my male Jackson's has been off his food. I've read they're notorious for hunger strikes but took him to the vets for a check up anyway. Vet did a blood test and X-ray which appeared normal. Unfortunately I had no fresh stools for him to do a fecal but the vet gave him a shot...
Hey folks. My first attempt at breeding Yemen veileds. Male and female both just under 2 years old, first breeding of them. Mated twice in one day 4th Feb this year. She laid a small clutch of 22 eggs on 18th March. Incubated at room temperature 20c with 70-75% humidity. All but seven of the...
Patience is the key I'm afraid. Only time can tell if your eggs are fertile and if they're hatching then you know you're incubating correctly. It's possible for chams to lay a mix of fertile and infertile eggs. I've known mouldy eggs, yellow eggs hatch perfectly healthy. Just keep an eye on them
Thanks a lot for that. There's a lot of info on sexing pygmys all saying the same thing (dorsel, tail, body shape etc). I'm confident that I'll be able to spot a female when I go back to the shop tomorrow to swap him. Perhaps I'll give the shop worker a few pointers while I'm there ;)
......but would anyone mind giving me a second opinion as the to the sexes of my brevs? The one to the left I bought as male around 3 months ago. The one to the right I was sold yesterday as female. However "she" has a rather defined dorsal and a tail of similar length to my male. They also...
Sorry I'd forgotten to fill out the help form :o (I take it this is the reason for lack of replies). Anyway I got Agatha to vets lastnight for a shot of calcium n oxytocin. She went back in her hole and laid her eggs within an hour. Obviously this has been a difficult lay for her and undoubtedly...
Hi folks. New to the forum and a proud (but worried) owner if two veiled yemen chams. Male and female both around 1 1/2 years old. After a lot of reading up, much of it on this site, I decided to try my hand at breeding them. My female became gravid after just 1 mating and began rejecting the...
