    Veiled chameleon outdoors, year round

Thank you for the info. So far, he is handling the heat well. I was wrong about the sunlight. The cage does receive direct sun on part of the cage in the morning hours. During the hottest part of the day when the misters were not on, I noticed that he was down in a potted plant up against the...

    Veiled chameleon outdoors, year round

Thank you for the information. The current plans would not allow him to be in direct sunlight at all. He would only receive indirect sunlight. He will be on my covered porch with MistKing on a timer. I wasn't planning on turning on the basking light because the ambient temperature will be...

    My young veiled...

He's not the friendliest guy in the world, but he loves to eat to from my hand. The hubby thinks that it's crazy that I dangle crickets by their legs for him. :p It's amazing how fast they grow. I've only had him for little over a month or so, and he's already so much bigger. I need to weigh...

    My young veiled...

Thanks. I bought him from Predator's Reptile Center in Mesa, AZ. He was on sale for $40. http://www.predatorsreptilecenter.com/ I believe that they only do local sales. The hubby's building him a custom enclosure. I will post pics. of that as soon as he's done. Maybe another week or so.

Does anyone feed their chameleon in a separate cage?

My veiled is about 2 months old. I haven't been keeping track of how many crickets I'm providing, but it is probably about 2 dozen 1/4 inch crickets every couple of days. There are always many (more than 10) crickets running around the cage. I've just wanted to make sure that he was enough to...

Does anyone feed their chameleon in a separate cage?

Thanks for the response. There are crickets running around the cage quite some time after being added, and they no longer have Ca dust on them. I placed a cut orange in the cage so that the crickets don't nibble on the cham. I'll continue to work on the cup training.

    Cricket gut load

Wow! That's a great assortment of nutrients. I've just been chicken feed for laying hens for my crickets and mealworms. Time to change?

    Pothos and Chams

Collard greens are not the same as iceberg and romaine. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Collard_greens You should be able to find them in the produce section. In my neck of the woods, some stores carry them, some don't.

Does anyone feed their chameleon in a separate cage?

I have a baby veiled, and have been feeding dusted crickets free range. The baby is defecating regularly and the excrement looks normal. I am still concerned that he might not be getting the enough of the Ca supplement. I'm working on cup feeding, but he hasn't taken to it yet. Does anyone...

Hello from AZ... (pics) Hi everyone. Don't have a chameleon yet, but I've been doing my research. Great site! I teach 8th grade Science and have a ton of critters in my class. The students take care of them. So cute to see a kid cleaning a cage with a gecko on their shoulder. :) At...

Best place to get 1000 3/8" Crickets??

I used this place the last time I ordered crickets. I always have mine held at the local FedEx. http://www.bcrcricket.com/ Also, it's not too hard to breed them yourself. I have 12 leopard geckos to feed now, and a chameleon hopefully soon. :)
